Guest mattysk Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 Hi all, I know there is a bit of an issue with the headphone socket http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...one-jack-issue/ but I can live with that. I'm just getting fed up with being out in the cold, listening to music, getting a call, gloves off, swipe, ear plugs out cold hand to ear... you know!!! Are there any headphones out there that don't use bluetooth that can just plug into the jack that also have a MIC and preferably a way of answering the call. Just like on my old NOKIA. Don't really want to fiddle around with soldering wires etc!! If anyone has some that don't hiss all the better! I guess I could be pursuaded by Bluetooth but I don't want more batteries to charge or to look like some desperate business man trying to look important. Much appreciated!

There was a report on a Pulse thread that a particular type of Nokia headset fixed a very similar problem. I have no idea about differences between different Nokias. With the Pulse the Nokia AD-57 was said to 1/ fit snugly into the Pulse's socket 2/ provide working microphone and switch and 3/ allow you to use your choice of normal (no mike) headphones. So I've chanced a few quid on a well-known auction site and am waiting for delivery. Natch, I'll report success or failure unless anyone else does first! But meanwhile, if you have a Nokia headset to try, it might just work! (All iPhone, and thus "iPhone compatible", headsets are known to be wired inappropriately for use with the SF, so avoid them.) Actually I've been a bit of an idiot! - Its a SONY Ericsson and it has the headphones that come with its own special brand of connector. Basically the ones that will only fit in this phone.
Guest mattysk Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 I wonder of there any headphones that can be used through the USB?
Guest oh!dougal Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 I wonder of there any headphones that can be used through the USB? Sorry but that's silly. On usb, the phone is behaving like a flash-disk drive, or even a modem. Not like a computer. I don't believe it has any usb drivers available to use its usb as though it was a computer, and then lacks the audio drivers to send audio to usb ... Not saying its impossible, just very very unlikely that ZTE would provide the proprietary info to allow a linux geek to dedicate his life to making it work, let alone work 'nicely' with the phone functions. Plugs (with adapters) may fit. That doesn't mean the electronics have been set up to work that way. See if you can find a recentish Nokia headset to try. Much simpler!
Guest mattysk Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 Thought that may be the case. Just wondered if there were any magic usb solutions out there.
Guest mattysk Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 I think I may be looking for something like this http://www.blueunplugged.com/p.aspx?p=141292#moreinfo but would that work with the Blade? Does the desire have something in the jack that means you can answer calls that the Blade doesn't? Sorry if these are newbie type questions..
Guest mattysk Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 might have answered my own question here http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad.../blade-headset/ Sounds as though I might have to go with Bluetooth. Its having another battery to charge that annoys me most! That and having to look around all the forums to find ones that actually work! Cheers for the replies
Guest oh!dougal Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 ... I have no idea about differences between different Nokias. ... Other than that I believe there ARE differences, hence my going for the specific model mentioned. As I said, I'll see, hopefully soon.
Guest john306 Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 Last couple of weeks I've been using this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Ericsson-MW-6...0055&sr=8-1 I'm outside all day and listen to radio which this bluetooth has so saves wasting the battery on the phone, very good sound too.

They look interesting. Are you able to answer calls on the Blade using this? Also, how do you charge it? is it through USB? I guess that having Bluetooth on on my phone will drain the battery but might be balanced by having the phone radio off. Quite funny though as I specifically bought a phone that had FM. Cherers

Cherers Yes there is an answer/end button on the control, it can also skip fw/rev through the songs on the phone It uses the same charger connector as the SF. I just use the mains of the usb one although the mains charges faster. I used to have the radio on the SF about 6 to 7 hours per day, thats now off and I have bluetooth on instead and come home with loads more % battery that previously. Guest mattysk Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 hmmmm interesting! Just to make sure, can you definitely answer calls with it on the blade without having to touch the phone? Thanks again
Guest Winston69 Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 can these be used for the fm radio?
Guest mattysk Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 can these be used for the fm radio? Looking at the amazon page - it has an FM radio built in. Not sure if you can still use the radio on the phone but it looks as though you can play mp3 through it so I'm guessing you could.

Much simpler! no it isn't silly, what did the magic and G1 use? fair enough they are a different product line all together and used a mini usb rather then a micro usb. other retails use micro usb hands free kits. so it was just an idea. everyones entittled to an opinion as you are to yours. be nice/kinder with words unless its a manufacture of a product, i.e. apple or htc or w.e

Thanks again Yes, if you click on the photo in the link I gave you can see the button at the top of the unit that answers/ends calls

With a Bluetooth headset, what do you think the phone would be using for an FM radio antenna? Wouldn't that be a good reason for thinking of building an FM radio into a Bluetooth headset?
