Guest earlybird Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 Hi all . This is my first post. Have unlocked the San fransisco and put it on the 3 network. Rooted it and installed clockworkmod and Paul's R4 rom. Had no data connection, so phoned 3 and they helped me to install a APN and now data is working. I find I seem to keep loosing the voice and data signals when I am in my living room and the signal is strong enough and have to keep going in to settings, mobile networks, network operators and choosing the 3UK. Sometimes I notice that orange pops up on my home screen as the network. I don't know if any orange parameters have been left anywhere, so is there somewhere i can tell the phone that my preferred netwwork is 3 and no other ? Also is it possible to install three's version of Skype on the phone so Skype does not cost ? Regards John

Regards John When a phone on 3 loses it's 3 signal, it drops onto the Orange network, this this is true for all 3 phones, not just this one. As for Skype, yes, you download it. There's a link somewhere on this site for it, can't remember where though. If you try to download it off 3 it'll say your phone can't run it, it's lying, trying to get you to buy a 3 branded phone, it works fine, best of all, it doesn't have the problems that the normal Android Skype has, where sound comes out of the speaker, it connects just like a normal phone call. Think this is because it actually dials a Skype phone number, rather than running Skype "properly". It has the disadvantage of showing incoming calls as just Skype calls, and not who from. I can live with that for free calls.
Guest Stooby Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 When a phone on 3 loses it's 3 signal, it drops onto the Orange network, this this is true for all 3 phones, not just this one. To clarify this statement, phones bought from 3 will always display 3 as the carrier even though they may actually be "roaming" on Orange (when there is poor coverage on the actual 3 network). This phone will display "Orange" under those circumstances but you will not be charged any roaming fees (in the UK). I'm running the "Skype On 3" application and it works great. If you really can't find the apk, pm me your email address and I'll send it to you.
