Having GPS Switched on Kill’s 3g connection?

Guys, I’ve found that all my problems with googlemaps is related to my GPS in some strange way.

I can connect to the internet without any problems, getting around 1500kbps upload and 400 kbps download with speed tester, and access all sites and the market etc, but as soon I open googlemaps, the GPS icon comes up and my 3g ‘down’ arrow does not show any traffic and the pages don’t download.

After this has happened, I can’t use the phone to call/text in or out, or connect to the net although the signal and 3g shows the same as before failing.

If I then reboot and switch off ‘use GPS satellites’ I can use googlemaps, although without GPS my location is not that accurate and I don’t know if navigation would work without GPS either.

I’m on T-Mobile, and have tried different settings for the apn – that’s what I thought the problem was initially

I once got it to work briefly; using the fastboot version of the original stock Orange rom, but alas I didn’t back it up and killed it once I installed a YouTube downloader.

I’ve tried most of the available roms, both fastboot and clockwork ones, but the result is always the same, but going to try my Orange sim tonight to see if that makes any difference.

Has anyone come across this problem before, or can make a suggestion on what I’m missing or can try next – really getting sick of this, I’ve got a smart phone that I can’t use!!

Thanks,

Rob.

It has to do with your APNs and I bet you're on R4

Search the forum and you'll find how to remove pther APN profiles, you're problem will dissapear magically...

mmm, interesting, I'll check it out, but I'm currently on the stock Orange rom with the orange stuff removed and only have the two T-mobile apn's from apn back up and restore on

I'm on r3 and only have apns for t mobile Internet and mms setup and I don't have the problem you describe. In fact I've used google maps with gps on and 3G on all the way from Birmingham to Edinburgh with no drop outs and having calls and texts getting through fine.

just clockworked Sebastian's R6 fat after reading a post on another topic about GPS problems

and it's working, I'll see how it goes and post on here

I'm having an issue with the text for the internet setting being white on a white background and can't change them - I'll post on his topic
