Hey Guys!

Thought i Share this with everyone.

Install Wi-Fi Keep Alive from Market.

Go to advanced options & enable ALL Workarounds 1-5

It Holds the Connection for me overnight while screen off!

But still seems to have an issue if i leave the house and come back doesnt seem to Auto Reconnect.

But @ least once connected it stays that way

EDIT: OH & I THINK I REBOOTED THE PHONE BEFORE IT ACTUALLY WORKED  (CANT REMEMBER)

if you push menu whilst in the wifi screen you can keep the wifi from sleeping anyway... the only app id suggest is "blade wifi fix"

Blade fix doesn't seem to work for me, it does reconnect after I've turned the screen back on but it takes a few seconds so isn't really a fix.

Wi-Fi Keep Alive seems to work so far (workarounds are turned off)

Indeed. You can also change this in SpareParts btw..

Same for me.

However, the combination between Blade WiFi Fix and the sleep policy to never seems to be working quite well.

I know, The native sleep setting on Android never Worked for me...well on this phone anyway.

Haven't tried "blade wifi fix", but "Wi-Fi Keep Alive" works perfectly for me. With (ALL WORKAROUNDS ENABLED)

I think its just temperamental, Different things work for different ppl

Theres probably a bug, where different user installed apps are messing with the WiFi

Proposed Fix (not a work-around) - an alternative wifi chip driver

Posted by Stackrish here (for 2.1) http://android.modaco.com/index.php?showto...t&p=1483645 (Its in a 2.2 thread - the 2.2 version is a few posts upthread)

Note that this CANNOT stop wifi going off during sleep - that is a sleep-power-policy matter that ZTE are aware of (but maybe not quite clear about, even now).

But, it might, just might, help the phone to reconnect to wifi when it comes out of sleep.

I had problems with wifi connect too.

I uninstall all aplications wifi keep ....

I install only two progs (free) from android market:

Auto Wifi Toggle (in wifi sleep policy: turn off in idle to never, wifi off to off)

and

SwiFTP ( turn on ftp server)

When ftp server on my mobile is on, then wifi is allways on, stay connected to the router and all IM clients works fine

This only avoid the problem, but works for me.

Sorry for my poor english

Ofc it takes some time because the "fix" turns wifi off and on again.

Hope we get a real fix soon. Keep Alive is no real solution I need no wifi over night so why drain battery?

SwiFTP has the permission of "Prevent the phone from sleeping" which means it probably holds a wakelock the whole time it's running. It will use a lot of battery power.

People still tend to make a confusion between the two wi-fi blade problems. They refer to Blades not charging, because if you charge your Blade it does not sleep.

1. wi-fi does not reconnect after sleep (wi-fi on, policy set to wi-fi disconnect if phone sleeps)

2. wi-fi does not remain on when sleeping (wi-fi on, policy set to always on)

This fix is supposed to solve the second problem.

I use wifi blade fix to fix the first problem and wi-fi keep alive (with option number 2) to fix the second problem.

Of course when you have the phone in half sleep mode it eats a lot of battery, but if you need it to be online all the time, eg for skype it is the only solution!

Strange I set it to "Off when in standby" and and it seems to stay on...

Going to test it later.

Maybe they just labeled it wrong?

.... to save my battery I use the setcpu profile:

on screen off - clock to min

Stackrish's wifi driver still works in JJ9, as in it connects & doesn't crash, but it still suffers the same problems as the normal driver.

I'm testing wifi keep alive now, workaround 1 doesn't work, the other workarounds look like they're going to use more battery. It still disconnects about a minute after the screen goes off.

[edit] Workaround 2 is the only workaround in wifi keep alive that has any effect on keeping the wifi alive on the blade, but it does that by making sure that the phone can't sleep, so it's going to use a lot more battery.

Even with workaround 2 wifi still dies after a while. Maybe all the workarounds combined might help, but i still don't think it'd be a good fix & it'd cost a lot of battery power if it did work. Uninstalled
