Guest dragon2611 Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 (edited) Has anyone tried the wi-fi teathering in either of the Froyo alphas? Doesn't appear to work for me, the laptop connects fine but doesn't get assigned an IP address, it looks to me like the phone isn't running any sort of DHCP server. USB tethering however works fine and gives the laptop an ip of 192.168.42.146 with a subnet of 255.255.255.0 and an gateway of 192.168.42.129 I haven't yet tried manually assigning the IP to the wi-fi interface to see if that would make wi-fi teathering work, i'd usually use a separate MI-FI with a mobile-BB plan for mobile internet, but I forgot to grab it when i went out. Guest dragon2611 Posted November 14, 2010 Report Posted November 14, 2010 (edited) Interesting, which raises the question as to if it's the case of the DHCP server isn't running or if win7 doesn't like it. edit: tried again and it worked this time but it took a while for the pc to get assigned an ip, only difference was I had a USB cable connected to a usb > Car power socket adaptor connected to the phone last time (to keep it charged) Edited November 14, 2010 by dragon2611
