Guest spanner44 Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 (edited) At the present I currently use Handcent for my messenging needs but whatever I try and do can not seem to disable the internal default messenger and I constantly receive the same message twice, via both apps. Does any one know how I can either disable the internal app, so Handcent is the default (I seem to have tried every menu going at the moment) or is it possible to fully remove the default messenging app, without it affecting the overall running of the phone ? Thanks in advance Edited November 15, 2010 by spanner44

Guest spanner44 Posted November 15, 2010 Report Posted November 15, 2010 Thanks I will give it a go, it is simply driving me nuts, this is why i was wondering whether I could just get rid of the default one altogether.

Anyway very easy to uninstall the original sms apk with titanium backup. ore remove the apk with root manager (i think the name is mms.apk)
Guest Daz555 Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 Yes, I think you can remove the default messaging app. This will break some functionality. Much better to think of handcent and chomp as "front ends" for the messaging app rather than a 100% replacement for it.
