Guest delboymel Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 I have a diff googlemail account and want to remove my old one from my phone. When i click to remove the account under Manage accounts, it says I have to do a factory reset (which i donlt wnat to do). It says the account is required by some apps. So i spose if i knew which apps, i could unistall those apps but how would i know?? Ta!
Guest HACKDROID Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 im afraid the only option for you maybe to back up your apps with something like titanium backup and then do the reset then put back your apps and contacts etc via the backup, you will have to be rooted in order to this also once reset has been done it will then ask you to enter the google account details again.

Ok as it's unlocked by a code, I assume Ill also need to reapply the unlock code won't I? Is backing up east with titanium back up?? Ive just dl the free version!

I hope 2.3 Gingerbread sorts out this main account issue - it will be tricky as market purchases hinge on it.

Is backing up east with titanium back up?? Ive just dl the free version! It is, but it's much easier with the paid for version, as that way you can do a batch backup of all your apps, and restore with one click. With the free version, you have to do them one at a time.
Guest delboymel Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 (edited) OK i've actually just sold the phone, so suggest i need to do the following: 1) Factory reset 2) Check phone still unlocked. If not reapply code 3) Re download Universal androot and titanium backup 4) Open titanium backup and click on Problems (to dl latest busybox) 5) Then (in titanium backup) select each of the Orange stuff to uninstall) I know i could just back up but feel this is a more straightforward route???? And this way, there will be no trace of my googlemail account will there? Is this right, before i do it? Just to add, i didn't apply any other rom, just removed the orange bloatware Edited November 16, 2010 by delboymel
Guest bruschi Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 I am wanting to remove the original gmail account settings too, but have downloaded a godo few apps so dont want to lose them. So, if I have it right, I do a titanium backup. Factory reset. and then restore the apps on the titanium backup?
