Guest cinzas Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 Hi all! I've just posted a fix to get battery trickle charge on the Desire. All kernel developers/builders, feel free to use it if you wish  it's here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841580 This is a really annoying "bug". I always let my phone charging at night, and got a 90% in the morning. Paul can you apply this patch to the sense kernel ?
Guest bpivk Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 I'm using Paul's MCR8, sub501's custom kernel and power governors and I do a battery data wipe when I install a new rom and I don't experience any problems. The phone goes normally from 100 to 99 and so on.

The phone goes normally from 100 to 99 and so on. but if you charge it over night...for 4-6-8-10 h it can be that you unplug and you have only 90 % because the phone stop the charge at 100 % and reload after 89-90 % again to 100 % and this is the fix for  with kind regards..Alex
Guest bpivk Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 I can honestly say that I've never seen my phone on 90% when charging. I'll play with it some more when I have the time.

Guest David Szabo Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 I can honestly say that I've never seen my phone on 90% when charging. I'll play with it some more when I have the time. It charges up to 100% but lets the phone discharge even while still plugged in. Once you unplug it you find it go from 'charged' to something below 100%.
Guest chipyy Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 (edited) If anyone's going to apply this, you should be aware that trickle charging is BAD for Lithium Ion batteries and WILL reduce the useful life of your battery. The reason that when you unplug you battery if can be anywhere from 90-100 charged is because your phone stops charging it at 100% instead of trickle charging it, and then kicks in again when it drains down to 90. I don't think this is a good idea personally. Also I find this statement a bit suspect: because the battery is fully charged, I recharge it only one night out of two now How on earth does getting an extra 10% (best case scenario) charge in your battery double the amount of time you can go without charging it? Nothing suspect here dude. It's just that before with normal usage I was close to 50% at the end of my day and now I'm well above that B) No need to recharge unless I play for a few hours with angry birds or asphalt 5 :) Anybody can choose anyway if they want to try it. And if HTC finally comes with an official patch, I'll be very happy to use this patch instead of mine. ATM their driver is buggy and instead of recharging at 99% like they planned to (look at sources in details for that), it's dropping to 90% and i don't like it. If you find a better modification to the code, feel free to PM with with a patch file :)
Guest bpivk Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 I was close to 50% at the end of my day and now I'm well above that B) Sorry but how can you be well above that if you only gain at most 10% with this mod?
Guest spammyspam Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 For eg if you need 40% per day, then the extra 10% will let you clear 2 days easily.
