Guest BashyUK Posted November 16, 2010 Report Posted November 16, 2010 Hi all, Man I've got issues. For the last few weeks I've been using DeFroST. Started with 5.8 through to 6.0e, with standard and different kernels. Always got reboots and freezes at some point, maybe after a few hours sometimes after a couple of days. I would also find that after rebooting I'd have to pull the battery a few times before getting a successful boot. I've now decided to try NSA ROM from Noonski so was just doing a Nandroid...have tried 4 times so far, it gets part way through the back up and reboots. My q is, do I bother trying another ROM (without a current Nandroid) or do I have a FUBAR'd phone?

Guest BashyUK Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 maybe your sd card is corrupt...ext partition....format the card and make a new ext and test...have read that it can be the problem with kind regards..Alex Will give it a go as I have fully wiped, installed NSA Rom and not restored any apps or data at all, just downloaded them again from the market and it's just rebooted again whilst I was using it for about 10 mins...lets see how it goes... Guest BashyUK Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 Any news? B) Check here! http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desi...ginal-software/ Trying the steps now, doubt that it will work tbh as I am doing all the steps blind, bound to have mis-clicked or had an unexpected message somewhere.
Guest beady_uk Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 Any update on this? I'm having the same trouble running R9 with Richard trip latest kernel. I tried the 6 latest radios but they made no difference. My desire usually just freezes and I have to pull the battery but occasionally it will just reboot randomly. I find that if it freezes its when I'm using it and if it reboots its when I'm not using it. Don't know if that makes a difference. Anybody got any ideas. I have not tried formatting the SD card as posted earlier but I have only had the card about 8 weeks. 16gb class 6
Guest Erik v/d Ven Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 Had a similar issue with my Desire, crashes, reboots, stuck at bootloader screen... B0rked! After a RUU and removing Alpharev, nothing fixed... So HTC replaced the Desire Motherboard. Seems fixed for now!
Guest sgtb Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 Hi there, had exactly the same problem. Checked over at XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=676402 and there are loads of people with the same problem. Only cure seems to be a new mobo. My phone is getting picked up by HTC courier today.

My issue seemed to be with the sd card reader to be honest and that's how i reported it as in phone works fine until I access apps (which were all on sd due to a2sd+, not that I told them that) so even if they fix it I don't know if they would replace the mobo unless that's the only way to repair the reader anyway. UPDATE: Just checked T-Mob site, phone received today, repair in progress, software upgrade...warranty status - In Warranty! Edited November 26, 2010 by BashyUK
Guest BashyUK Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 After my adventures as noted here: http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-desi...ginal-software/ and above, I checked the update today and it says the below: - Replacement - FRU Main BoardTM - Replacement - FRU-SUB ASSY, TFT-LCD Module Sony - Screening So it looks like I'm getting another SLCD screen and a new MB too, it's a whole new phone :-)
Guest BashyUK Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 It's on it's way back to me, been dispatched today and all fixed free under warranty, W00t! Now then, here's the big question...how do I safeguard myself from future issues with not having an RUU available? Is there a TMUK RUU SLCD version out there or will I have to hold back my 'rooting desire' (see what I did there?!) until such time, as I don't think I would get away with it twice...I'm not that lucky ;)
Guest bpivk Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 Make a nandroid backup and flash away. Or bite the bullet and hope that the new motherboard and screen work ok and just flash it. ;)
Guest BashyUK Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 Make a nandroid backup and flash away. Or bite the bullet and hope that the new motherboard and screen work ok and just flash it. ;) Someone else suggested the same but then I would have to remove Superuser and the custom recovery apps...how would I do that? If it's straightforward then that's definitely viable.
Guest bpivk Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 (edited) I didn't know that you need to remove anything. I was under the assumption that you just make a full backup through clockwork or amonra recovery and that's it. But I don't do backups so maybe someone else will chime in and share their experiences. The phone's back! And another bonus,,,they sent me an extra battery! Well yeah, in order to backup i have to use nandroid via cm...to get cm you need to root...by rooting you get superuser and cm...so they need removing! ;)
