How to get more /data storage?

Ok almost ran out of space for apps on me Blade (and I don't think I have that many downloaded, no games etc) and looking for means to get some more. Tried darktremors a2sd to only get more problems, ext2 not mounting, modaco boot loop etc. Tried manually moving some apps from /data/app to /system/app but I understand that way it is gonna be difficult to update them. Isn't it 'simply' possible to reallocate space from the /system (and maybe /cache) partition to the /data partition in the phone? Found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754805 and, well, looks complicated to a newb user, but can sb at least confirm they've tried this ok on Blade? Or is there a simpler way or app to achieve the desired result (what about the dalvik-cache)? All comments appreciated.

A2SD is your only option, or a Froyo rom which has an option to move certain apps to your SD card as well.

If you can't get a2sd running by yourself, try a ROM which has A2SD built in or use the Online Kitchen with Paul's R4 ROM

I have modaco r4...all partitioning is fine first is fat32 second is ext2( both primary) ...but Quick system info shows "Information not available" in A2SD storage ..when I mount it manually I can see the space ...but after every reboot I have to mount it manually ...any way to fix this ....cant find /etc/fstab ... :rolleyes:

I had the same issue. I am guessing you are using Modaco R4 without having A2SD add via the online kitchen but you tried adding it yourself, right ?

I and someone else didn't managed to get it working and in the end we both switched to a ROM with A2SD built-in and that works flawlessly

Actually r4 should have a2sd support. Any way i installed it from vanilla ..some zip ..not sure but it still doesn't work ...Did you install the app by yourself and if yes ..where did you get it ?

The 'default' R4 ROM does NOT. You have to add A2SD manuallly OR in the Online Kitchen.

There are instructions on Villain forum how to install it, but people (including myself) had very mixed results. Your options are - read http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/showthre...r-the-ZTE-Blade and try to get it working, pay for an ad-free account so you can bake your own A2SD ROM, or choose one of the A2SD ROMs from http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...and-other-roms/

Ignore me. Didn't read properly. I'm sure I've seen somewhere about repartitioning the data and system partitions, but I can't remember where.

That's partitioning the SD card, not the internal system memory. There was a post on XDA I think, about making the system partition smaller and the data partition bigger. I'll see if I can find it.

I ve try .....no luck ...I guess I have to go with the kitchen ROM..as it has a2sd support :rolleyes:

cobhc: I believe you may be referring to the link in my original post, it would be fantastic if sb skilled could try and confirm it works and/or put down any specific instructions for SF (ideally running with Modaco R4 and CMR).
