I managed to get Flashlite working with the stock android 2.1 and the stock browser.

You will need to root your phone so you can copy the library files (*.so) to the /system/lib/ directory.

Then install the FlashPlugin.apk and reboot your phone.

It is not perfect, not all flash will play and some run slow...

All file are from the French Fries 2.1 image.

Enjoy

Cool - Anyone else get this working? I take it I need to remount /system as rw and then copy the *.so files to /system/lib, remount as ro, and then install the apk?

Does this work with other browsers or only the stock one?

Thanks

No, it doesn't have a directory structure, or the required update script.

I've put the files on my sd and tried to copy into system\lib using Astro...but I can't copy, move or paste...?

Have you mounted /system as writeable? If not, easiest way is to search the market for "mount system" which is an app which does it for you.

I tried that, chose R/W but I still can't copy or move anything into system\lib using astro.... apparently I still have dr- rights in the directory

I used the terminal emulator to manually copy the files. In order to copy the files i needed super user rights despite the system folder being rw.

I can confirm the flash plugin works. flash player AFL9,1,122,0 reported by playerversion.com. unfortunately very few sites actually work with it - was hoping to access bbc news videos, but no luck B)

Can't seem to get any flash working. Just get the flash logo and that's it.

Have you tried going to www.playerversion.com? if its installed correctly it should report version 9.1.122 or something like that. Alot of sites wont work with flash 9 though (which is what flash lite 3.1 maps to).

I'd like to install this but I can't move the libraries into /system/lib. I tried using a free terminal emulator off the android market, rooting my phone and using su, then using mv to take the files from my sdcard to /system/lib, but I get the error "failed on <file> - Cross-device link". I used mount system r/w before trying. Any ideas?

Is there any chance to get FlashLite to work with android 2.2 ? What's the difference between 2.1 and 2.2 in this case?

You'll have to read up on use of adb.

it's something like

adb mount /system -remount,rw

adb put file.so /system/lib/file.so

(repeat for next one)

adb mount /system -remount,ro

Old topic and all, but I would like to get this working.

Managed to copy the .so files into "system/lib/" and install the .apk but playerversion just shows that I don't have it installed?

Stock rom, stock browser. Maybe ill try some other browser too...

I tried ripping 2 different versions of flash lite from 2 different htc wildfire roms (2.2.0 & 2.2.1) neither worked. I'd really like to get this working in froyo.

I've not tried this yet, got something similar on my pulse but will give it a go soon...

A little thought regarding 10.1 on our phones. Is it not possible to trick our phones into thinking it's got an ARM7 processor in order to get full flash working? Or even edit the apk in a way that it will work on ARM6 devices. I mean it's all pretty much code, isn't it?

No, Flash 10.1 uses multimedia extensions in arm7 that aren't in arm6. We'd need Adobe to fix it, or open source flash, neither of those will happen.

However, Flash Lite works on some other ARMv6 phones, including ones that run Froyo. Some people in this thread had it running on 2.1. So there should be some way to make Flash Lite work on the custom 2.2 roms...
