Guest cmberry20 Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 ok, i really want to install the latest release of Froyo on my SF, however, i havent got a clue on where to start. I currently running the stock ROM & have never messed with custom ROMs so i dont want to mess things up & brick my phone. All i'm after are the key steps on how to backup my phone & install the Froyo ROM. I tried the various guides but they seem so fragmented i dont know where to begin. Can any one help me please. I'm sure other people on this forum would benifit from a step by step (noobs) guide!! Cheers.
Guest goatee Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 All the info you need is here, but it can be intimidating. 1. Install USB drivers - see http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...te-usb-drivers/ 2. Root - see http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...boot-root-mcri/ 3. Install Clockworkmod (allows you to backup your phone, and install new ROMs) - see http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...rkmod-recovery/ 4. Read the first post about FLB twice http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...zte-blade-beta/ 5. Download the ROM from http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...zte-blade-beta/ and then copy it onto your SD card. 6. If you have applications / settings you really want to backup, then you need to download Titanium Backup from the marketplace to back them up - pay for the paid app, in order to do a batch backup 7. Boot into Clockwork (power on and keep your finger on the volume down button), and do a backup of your phone. 8. Go into mounts and storage to mount your phone over USB, copy your Clockwork backup (the Clockwork folder) onto your computer - can't be too careful with backups! 9. Wipe data / factory reset from Clockworkmod 10. In install zip from SD card, choose the ROM you downloaded. 11. Reboot 12. If you backed up applications with Titanium, then download it from the marketplace, and restore them. ok, i really want to install the latest release of Froyo on my SF, however, i havent got a clue on where to start. Guest goatee Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 Pleasure - it's also worth reading through Steven Harper's excellent post - it's longer and in more depth than my quickie here, but gives a nice view of the different ROMs. Thanks! Count me in as grateful for having all the steps in one place.
Guest cmberry20 Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 Thankyou goatee for the steps. I've just install Clockwork mod & i'm currently backing up my phone. However, before i install the Froyo Beta, the link you gave says to 'Wipe Data & Cache before installing'. Is this the option in Clockwork Mod?
