Desire Phone Contact Types

Hello @all,

my Desire was branded by T-Mobile with MyPhonebook on it. Now it is rooted with MoDaCo Custom Rom from the Online Kitchen.

My problem is, that the contact type "Phone" doesn't support different types of email or phone numbers, than given (like "private","other","custom - with define a own label"). So, when a contact has more than one mail address, i can't make a difference between them, they are only 2 mail addresses.

With the branded rom, the app MyPhonebook created a new contact type named "MyPhonebook". It was like the Google contact type with all options I need. It is a SyncML service from T-Mobile, pre-installed on all T-Mobile branded devices and also useable without a T-Mobile sim card (no syncing service, but a better contact type - like google but offline B) ).

So my problem is, I don't want to use Google contacts, with rooted phone I have no MyPhonebook installed and I can't buy MyPhonebook because T-Mobile is not my provider. Talked to HTC the only answer I got was, "...no, contact type "phone" hasn't such option....but good idea, maybe implement it in an update" ..so never :)

Is there any app like MyPhonebook or a possibility to extend the standard contact type ?

p.s.: wasn't able to extract the modified apks with myphonebook to implement it in custom rom - boot loop

thx

Do you have a backup of your branded rom? you might be able to extract an apk and install it on MCR after a new flash I would presume.

Yes, a nandroid backup an the original rom as ruu.

I tried it several times, with copying apks to system-image and over adb.

system-image > boot-loop

install over adb > can't install caused by missing shared_library

I think these are the apks for MyPhonebook:

  • /system/app/SyncMLClient.apk [MyPhonebook]
  • /system/app/SyncMLProvider.apk [syncMLProvider]
  • /system/app/SyncMLService.apk [com.android.syncml.service]
  • /data/framework/com.android.syncml.shared.jar
  • /data/framework/com.android.syncml.shared.odex

But also the contact.apk and others are not the same like from stock rom.

If it helps, I can post the error message from adb at evening.
