Guest Ed Venture Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 Okay, for quite some time now I have been battling my Streak. Here's whats been going on: I have been running all DJ Steve's ROMS just fine until 1.2.0 came out. After 1.2.0 it ran fine for a day or so and started flaking out and FC'ing applications. I rebooted and it never came back - just the Dell logo. So, I went back to 1.1.1 and followed the directions to a "T" and it ran great for 24 to 48 hours, then it flaked out again and would not come back after a reboot. So this time, I went back to 2.1 8105 and worked forward to 1.2.0. After a day or so, it did the same thing. Well after a week of this, (and about 9 re-flashes) I decided that as much as I loved 1.2.0 (it fixed all my problems and made my Streak the phone I always wanted) I decided to roll back to 1.1.1 where I was running stable from the day I installed it until I upgraded to 1.2.0. I did this, and then it flaked out like it did on 1.2.0 after a few hours. Crap B) So with the official build on the way, I decided to roll back to 2.1 until it was available. It ran for a day and then FCs Gmail and and after a reboot, it factory reset itself. I did this twice! So, finally I decided to roll ALL the way back to the original AT&T 6601. All was good until the final step in Homiess' guide. Again, I followed the directions to a "T". But after the reboot, it came back on the 4399 build, but with flashing lights. So, I went through it one more time with the EXACT same files and the EXACT same process. It looked like the ROM installed properly, it flashed the white screen where it did the factory reset, completed the reset and said rebooting. It rebooted, but all I got was ALL the soft buttons lit solid and NO Dell screen. It just sat there, doing nothing. I pulled the battery and tried again; same result. So, I pulled the battery and tried to boot to recovery and re-flash; nothing :) I held down both volume buttons and then power, but it won't even turn on. So this time I tried to boot to Fastboot mode; nothing :) I tried plugging it in and using ADB to see if I can get a shell going; nothing. Am I screwed? HELP!
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 does windows show ANYTHING in device manager if you hold vol up and connect usb - if so drop into irc and ill help ya out
Guest wired Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 I pulled the battery and tried again; same result. So, I pulled the battery and tried to boot to recovery and re-flash; nothing B) I held down both volume buttons and then power, but it won't even turn on. So this time I tried to boot to Fastboot mode; nothing :) The same thing happened to me. After downgrading to 2.1 8105 successfully, I proceeded to downgrade to 1.6 4399. After the "Factory reset start" white screen, my streak turned off and wouldn't turn on again. A battery pull did nothing - no response at all. What fixed it was QDLTool from Stephen's 0.1 froyo release. After running it, it came back to life. I then flashed 8105 back on and it seems to be running like normal. Does 1.6 need a different baseband or something?
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 1.6 does alot of different changes partitions and baseband included
Guest wired Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 1.6 does alot of different changes partitions and baseband included Ah, I thought the .pkg file contained everything. Do you have any suggestions on how I could go back down to 1.6? Right now my originally Australian Streak is running the 8105 2.1 ROM, baseband GAUSB1A120621-EU, OEM Version GAUSB1A120621. thanks!
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 you can get to 1.6 but its a PITA to do, and risks some bricks
Guest Ed Venture Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 does windows show ANYTHING in device manager if you hold vol up and connect usb - if so drop into irc and ill help ya out YES! It tries to load the Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM driver but fails. I know this sounds stupid, but how do I get into the irc?

Guest wired Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 following homeiss's guide but its still risky as ed has discovered hmm... I got stuck at the same point as him.. going from O2 2.1 8105 to O2 1.6 4399 results in a nonresponsive streak. Fortunately I still had qdltool from your 0.1 release! Is there any other method to go back to 1.6?

Guest andsome Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 FIXED! Stephen help me through it. What incredible patience he has! If it weren't for him, I'd be dead in the water. Thanks again for everything. Ed If he fancies another challenge... I've spent all day on mine. I tried to go to Stephen's 2.2 but I get stuck at the Dell logo (with the occasional flashing three lights and reloading of the new logo but nothing past there). So I tried to go back to the 2.1 that I was on, but that also hangs at the Dell logo. So does the original 1.6. I've tried 4 or 5 different types now to no avail. Fastboot is fine, and I can get to the Clockwork recovery OK but the stock recovery also hangs (blank screen). I've pretty much exhausted all my ideas now, but probably have everything I need. If anyone has any ideas - and believe me I've trawled this site - then I'm good for ideas. I'm not a software noob either, I generally know what I'm doing but in this case I'm stumped.
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 aye ill take that challenge B)
Guest andsome Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 aye ill take that challenge :) I'm just trying a couple of other things, then I'll pester you at #dellstreak. B) Cheers.
Guest ajg23 Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 ...I pulled the battery and tried again; same result. So, I pulled the battery and tried to boot to recovery and re-flash; nothing :P I held down both volume buttons and then power, but it won't even turn on. So this time I tried to boot to Fastboot mode; nothing :D I tried plugging it in and using ADB to see if I can get a shell going; nothing. Am I screwed? Here's how I got around this problem: I had pulled the battery and then found that the Streak wouldn't turn on (with any combination of buttons) after replacing the battery, but the following worked: took the battery OUT again, then plugged it into the USB port on the computer for power. Then COULD turn on the device while press/holding both POWER + CAMERA. When I got the white screen, I put the battery back in, then unplugged from USB. Then tapped "FASTBOOT" in upper right as usual, and after 10 seconds plugged in to USB. Then was in Fastboot and able to interact with the device through the command prompt with fastboot commands (including rebooting with: fastboot -i 0x413c reboot )! Hope this helps! Aaron
Guest mdwg2020 Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 (edited) I have had the exact same problem, but was able to go the USB route with the battery off and use the QDLTool to install some files. However, I still cannot boot into recovery as my recovery has been wiped when attempting to do an upgrade to the latest 2.2 packages. With the QDLTool was a log file that showed a previous run that installed the recovery portions and other partitions. Is there still a version of the QDLTool that does that? Not sure how to proceed to "Unbrick" my Streak. Thanks - Brooks UPDATE ------after trying to get it to boot into fastboot 6-7 times it finally woke up. Will continue to fix the problem. This board has been extremely helpful, thank you. Edited November 27, 2010 by mdwg2020
Guest skatershark Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 (edited) I have this exact problem as well. My computer also tries to load QDLTool but I'm not sure what to do to unbrick my streak. If someone could help me I'd be extremely greatful. Edited December 4, 2010 by skatershark
Guest paulheth Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 aye ill take that challenge ;) Hey there! Here is one for you if you are interested. I'm so close I can taste Froyo.... but: Would love the help of yourself or some of the more experienced here. I'm at at dead end. I'm working with a Rogers Streak so it's Android 1.6, build 7921. Goal is to get to Custom 1.4.6 Froyo ROM. Currently I get stuck on a blank screen after trying a O2 1.6 (4399) update from a restored stock recovery. I can restore my nandroid 7921 backup but it come up with a number of errors so not feeling to solid about that. Also says baseband unknown (see below). What I have done so far: ii. Rooted with Universal Root (I think - rooted for sure, not sure exactly if it was UR or another, but it said it worked(after 2 trys)) 1. Setup Fastboot mode with no problems (no driver problems just worked) 2. Installed clockwork recovery v1.8.1.7 2b. Backed up using nandroid 3. Used fastboot to apply dsp1.bin (720p video) and amss.bin (baseband?) updates for 1.4.6 4. Flashed DJS Froyo 1.4.6 Result was installed fine but on attempted boot the classic stuck at Dell logo. Pretty sure I left it long enough (about 15 min or so). No luck. 5. Restored 7921 backup. Worked but LEDs were flashing (baseband miss match?) and received a 'battery error' (battery charging disabled). Then saw this thread realized the path to take = Rogers 1.6 -> O2 1.6 -> O2 2.1 -> DJS Froyo 1.4.6 so have set off on that path. 6. Installed Stock Recovery with Fastboot 7. Attempted to flash O2 1.6 (4399). result was a blank screen for a long time (left about 15 minutes) Soooooo.... Just to prove to myself I wasn't screwed I have since fastboot installed clockwork recovery and restored 7921 nandoid back-up. Only problem seems to be an error stating "sd-ext.img not found. Skipping restore of /sd-ext." It boots now but has that battery error still about not charging. What I believe I should be doing (goal is still to get to DJS 1.4.6) is: 1. Restore recovery to stock recovery and flashing O2 1.6 (4933) 2. Flash O2 2.1 (8105) 3. Fastboot the recover to clockworks 4. Flash to DJS 1.4.6 But not sure how to get past my blank screen after restore of stock recovery and attempted flashing of o2 1.6 (4933). Have tried 2 different stock recovery images and 2 different o2 1.6 (4933) pkg files. Would appreciate anyone who can show me the error(s) of my ways. Thanks so much. Cheers.

Guest Superdroid Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 paulheth, I have the same phone as you specified. I found this post, looking for a way to root my phone, so you are way ahead of me. I found a website that provides a rooting method but not for our build number. So Im wondering, did you install software for a different build #? For the past month (since your post), did you restore your phone, or got it rooted successfully?
