Evening all

im a little concerned about the battery life on my SF. Despite having a full charge mine is asking to be connected to a charger after just a few hours.

Ive used the guide HERE to remove all the STOCK orange apps but battery life on mine is horendous, is this normal or have i got a flaky battery?

Also has anyone figured out why the back key keeps flashing red on a regular basis?

thanks

Hey

First the red back flashing, I have this when I get a new voice mail message and until i lift down the notification bar it does not go, is this the case?

Also battery life, well im a heavy user of mine, 3G wise and game wise, and mine lasts a day. I don't use Wifi and don't know if you do but thatll take energy up.

Also if youve just bought it, ive heard it takes a week of full charges to get it working properly.

But if its not lasting you a day with normal use then id take it back and get a replacement.

Turn off GPS, wifi and 3G.

I get around 2 days of usage out of mine. Thats with texting, and couple of calls, push email and twitter and wifi on occasionally.

Switch these off and you WILL see an improvement.

The red key flashes when it loses network connection (although it does for other events as well, like new text or email). Im guessing that you have your phone setup ONLY for 3G - so if it loses this then it loses all network activity. It then keeps trying to connect again. THIS WILL EAT BATTERY POWER. So the two seem to go hand in hand.

ive turned almost everything off ie wifi ( which i use at home while browsing the market place ) and i only run the gps while using it as the sat nav. What is the second from last icon ( next to the screen brightness icon ) in the connection setup bar thingyduffa whatchmacallit.

im trying the batter refresh tutorial ie charge while on, urn off charge again etc seeing if that will help at all.....i did call in at orange today and they said if battery went down raidly in front of them they would replace it...or i could leave it with them.....hmmm not happy about leaving a phone that ive just bought so they can say theres nothing wrong with it.

How do i make sure im set up for more than just 3G please

Thanls

You have every right to ask for a replacement if you think its dodgy, consumer rights and all that. SatNav will drain ti very quickly btw. But yeah fi youre not happy with it make sure you return it because you dont want to me stuck with something youre not happy with B)

The icon next the brightness one is Background Data which in order to use the Market you need on. I do not belive that takes up much (very little) battery.

And yeah i wouldnt want to leave my phone ethier, so just go in store and have a word with them.

That icon is "auto-sync" (AFAIK it allows gmail/google to sync occasionally) and it can be turned off, market works fine still. It doesn't affect "background data".

Go under settings/Accounts & sync settings, toggle the widget and watch what it turns on/off.
