Guest BigBlue007 Posted November 20, 2010 Report Posted November 20, 2010 I'm not sure whether the thing I'm trying to do will fix my issue, but I think this is a common question and its solution might come in handy for others as well. I was successfully able to flash the fastboo-flashable version of yesterday's official release Streak_309_11548_00.pkg. However, even after performing a fastboot.exe -w (to erase user data and cache) I still got the FC in the camcorder application when trying to record with 720p. Since there is a slightly newer releae of the update with different file size availabe today (Streak_309_0_00.pkg), I was thinking that it should be possible to simply flash this update using stock recovery. I still had the clockworkmod recovery installed, which is of course unable to flash these .pkg updates. So I flashed the stock recovery image (recovery.stock.new.img, 3.090.432 Bytes, date 08/14/2010). Using this, the recovery process starts, but after approx. 50% of the flashing process, the well-known "FOTA mismatch" error appears. After reading a bit, I understand that the stock recovery image that one wants to use to flash a stock firmware needs to match to that firmware that one wants to flash. So the issue obviously is that the stock recovery I am using does not match with the Streak_309_0_00.pkg package. So the question is whether someone already has the matching stock recovery image for the official Froyo release. Another interesting question would be what is the normal way (for users not reading forums) how the matching stock recovery image is being flashed to the device, because the official OTA upgrade process also uses the recovery to flash itself. Is the recovery partition automatically being updated before the actual flash process when using the official OTA upgrade process?

Everything is dandy except 720p and I can't find a recovery image that'll allow me to use the Update.pkg. My guess is that the unlocked versions maybe have a different recovery image, but tbh I have no idea because I'm totally new to this stuff. Gonna try the fastboot -w and see if it works for me, otherwise it would be much appreciated if anybody knew either how to install the update.pkg on an AT&T locked device or how to fix the force-close issue.
