Guest Stephen Hyde Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 ok folks been examining this and it seems to me that the majority of users with issues getting 720p working are using a specific device varient, putting this up to see if its the correct theory
Guest degriz Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 (edited) just in case Im being a twonk. How exactly do you select 720p recording? All I have is a selection of High, Low, MMS, Youtube or Custom. Doh, found it in Custom. Crashed B) Edited November 21, 2010 by degriz
Guest ak47m Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Was on AT&T 1.6 and used your 3 step method for the Froyo untouched version. 720p recording crashes
Guest m4tt24 Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Ok, just tried custom and 720p and it fc now both camera and camcorder are both instantly closing, really need my camera back super urgent how do I stop the fc's?
Guest brokenpixel Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 I'm the only beta ? sucks B) I do have the issue too :)

Guest Cue_32 Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Rebooting fixes it, dont select 720p and it'll be stable. Locked o2.uk Crashing on 720 720 Record FC on me and cant do anything until I reboot. Running 1.4.1 on AT&T Beta Unit.
Guest TEC Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 ok folks been examining this and it seems to me that the majority of users with issues getting 720p working are using a specific device varient, putting this up to see if its the correct theory Steve, I'm not exactly sure how to vote in this one. I bought my US ATT Streak from Best Buy. My guess is since it had no ATT bloatware on it, we can call it direct from Dell... Thoughts?
Guest zeiger Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Mine force close too Running 1.4.1 on unlocked streak
Guest moto_user Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 When i flashed V1.3 back when Steve released it, video camera would fc every time..now that i flashed v.1.4.1, im able to record at 720p, im using a dell streak unlocked, i think it a dell direct, since i did a trade for an iphone i had, they guy included the streak (of course) cables manuals etc, the box is the one with the tall clear box on top and the black box on the bottom with the "white house" printed on it, i got the phone back in mid september.
Guest Jay Slasher Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Canadian Rogers Streak here, Running 2.2 (1.4.1) FC with 720P Camera option. Had the same issue with the official Dell Build that was release a while back. (didn't have this problem in 2.1)
Guest Kohawk Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Hmm. Looking at the results so far, seems the Unlocked dell direct units do ok with the 720p recording... what would differ between them and the other units to cause this I wonder?
Guest NexusX Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 (edited) ok folks been examining this and it seems to me that the majority of users with issues getting 720p working are using a specific device varient, putting this up to see if its the correct theory Steve, I had the issue after upgrading to 2.2 via your post today and it was fixed completely by using the Update.pkg Hmm. Looking at the results so far, seems the Unlocked dell direct units do ok with the 720p recording... what would differ between them and the other units to cause this I wonder? Mine was AT&T locked but I was able to resolve the issue by reverting to 4399 and following this guide, although I did have to do things slightly differently than the OP stated, see my post. Guest degriz Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 some chap has posted logs here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846607
Guest LorD CLockaN Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Where do I even chose 720p in camera???
Guest gavelis Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Unlocked German Streak from MediaMarkt (might be same hard-/software like from Dell Germany) upgraded with "official" 00-Update.pkg 2.2: 720P video recording working without any issues (but therefor I have a bug viewing some webpages: "too many redirects")
Guest Acky1337 Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 (edited) o2 uk locked official froyo and working 720p, in fact all modes are working for me, none of them crash or anything. Edited November 21, 2010 by Acky1337
Guest untrueparadox Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 (edited) im on an at&t pre beta engineering device and it seems to work fine. just gotta do the settings right and clear the dalvik cache. Edited November 21, 2010 by untrueparadox
Guest ali_alex Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 unlocked unit 00-EU I used 2.1 stock 8105 then flashed via fastboot 2.2 (boot ,system, radio), camera gave me force close in 720p then i reverted back to 6267 stock and update by pkg to 2.2 Now works perfectly
Guest BigBlue007 Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 (edited) unlocked unit 00-EU I used 2.1 stock 8105 then flashed via fastboot 2.2 (boot ,system, radio), camera gave me force close in 720p then i reverted back to 6267 stock and update by pkg to 2.2 Now works perfectly Same here, and same with anyone else I know of who has a EU unlocked Streak. Using any of Steve's builds or using the official Froyo but flashing via fastboot, and the issue is there. Reverting to stock 6267 build and then either use OTA update (for those some who managed to do it while it was up) or flash the official .pkg using stock recovery (which, in the end, should be exactly the same as the OTA update would do), and the camera issue is gone. To me it would seem like the issue has something to do with the way how the device is being flashed. It would seem that when using a stock recovery with the official pkg built would flash somewhat different than with the fastboot method. Edited November 22, 2010 by BigBlue007
Guest Stephen Hyde Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 im wondering if its a dsp firmware issue then, hmmz
