ROM Manager

alrite guys,

quick one for you, flashed the custom recovery image to my phone and installed ROM Manager, wanting to take a backup of my stock ROM before I start messing about with things. Do I still have to go through the "Flash Clockwork Mod Recovery" option or have I just already done this manually?

went to "Backup Current ROM" and been prompted to confirm my phone model, the SF or Blade is not displayed - can someone confirm which I should select?

cheers

ok, upon further searching it looks like dell streak is the one to go for...

i have since decided just to reboot my phone in recovery mode and done a manual backup through there instead, is this ok or will it cause me problems when I look to restore?

cheers

I'd like to know the answer to this one as well. I can't seem to find a guide on how to upgrade from Paul's R2 which I installed using his MCRi method and I'd like to try the Froyo 2.2 beta. From what I can see I have installed the ROM Manager and I now I need to do the same backup as you and have the same list of phones to select from. Will watch this thread for an answer....hopefully. Simplest thing is to get ClockworkMod Recovery r2 installed. (As per the pinned thread - read it carefully - apart from the edited first post, the early comments don't apply to the r2!)

As you'll see, Paul's version of Clockwork has been customised to account for things like the SF/Blade's upside down screen. RomManager uses Clockwork, but not Paul's version of it. You'd be treading a more usual path just using Paul's Clockwork, I believe.

Once you have Clockwork installed, you can use it to load in any zip-formatted roms or patches. All you have to do is get them on the SD card and boot the phone "into (Clockwork) recovery".

You can use Clockwork to wipe data and caches. Before going 2.2 wipe everything you can. Its probably best (most prudent) to charge your battery fully before wiping battery statistics! (Though you shouldn't really need to do that.

Just be aware that Clockwork's partitioning doesn't work (for now). So use something else if you want to repartition your SD card.

EDIT ADDED: Or alternatively you could follow the alternative guide by StevenHarperUK for a complete install (yes it should work coming from where you are coming from!) http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...and-other-roms/
