Guest bugeyes Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 (edited) Ok this may turn out to be complete crap! What ive done is in no way technical, no way intelligent, I dont even know if what i'm to tell you cured the dialler issue! ok? right all ive done is install and run "power tutor" (thats it!) before i installed this the dialler issue was constant, (just like most other people!) the app showed no sign of dialler pulling loads of power, to be honest it just pulled a load of power itself ! lol so i uninstalled it, fine i thought just a false reading from the OS? seems not, now that i've deleted power tutor the dialler issue is gone!!!! and battery life is brilliant! My phone was running this morning without much use , just a few texts but after 3 hours of use my battery was at 99% so i hammered the phone all day! streamed videos read ebooks texted surfed played games oh and made a call! so very heavy use and it still made it to 10pm with 15% battery! So what i'm after here is for other people to try this and prove me right or wrong! sure i could wipe my SF and re try but i'm damned if i'm gonna wipe it when its running so well! give it a go, perhaps someone with programming experience will be able to figure out whats wrong on froyo or if this is a "fix" you've nothing to loose the app is free and may cure the prob! oh i'm running FLB-Froyo G2 for ZTE Blade (Beta) dont know if that will make any difference! best of luck! I should point out that i have no affiliation with power tutor or its programmers! Update!!!!! Ok a day and half later and dialler is still behaving, battery is great now after nearly eleven hours of use my battery is down to 75% percent left!!!!! previously on a good day i'd be at 75% by 11am or after 3.5 hours use. usage today has not been excessive three phone calls and 10 texts or so and accidentally having google sky maps running in my pocket for some time which took up 23% of my usage. something has changed if battery tutor didnt fix it i'm at a loss as to what else might have! Guest StevenHarperUK Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Bated breath here! It's done, added, ran for a bit, then removed - Battery is at 63% - all tasks killed. Now what? I should really leave it 1 hour and see what its doing.... Did you restart after removal?

Guest bugeyes Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 the only other thing i've done to the phone today was uninstall 3d gallery from the system/apps file with ES file explorer. cant see how that would effect it?
Guest StevenHarperUK Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Doing nothing and battery is now at 61% I will feedback after a night/day of use.
Guest bugeyes Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Doing nothing and battery is now at 61% I will feedback after a night/day of use. the dialler is still showing in battery use?
Guest bugeyes Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 well at this point 153 people have read this and no positive effects on anyones phones? can only assume its a fluke then? still keep my fingers crossed for everyone else B)
Guest ballist1x Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 did as u said, dialer was still in battery usage although interesting at 5% less than it was before... so wherewas it was above android system it is not below android system in the eternal struggle for battery power.

I wonder if it takes a while to show properly? i'm fairly certain i didnt check the battery usage straight after uninstalling power tutor! post again if it disapears from your battery usage stats please! Guest steff.jay Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 for me it doesn't work! still up to 90% usage from Phone... B) I've installed dialer-one, why doesn't this knock out the stock-phone-app? and another annoying thing/question: if I press the power button, my SanFran doesn't go to sleep... when i press the return-button for example, it's awake! so anything keeps my SanFran awake, even if I send it to sleep, right? How can I find out, what it is???
Guest ballist1x Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 bug eyes, didnt have time to keep testing i was waiting for hegehog rom download to finish and now on hungarian r1slb its android system 99% and no phone dialler in battery use whatsoever
Guest goatee Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 bug eyes, didnt have time to keep testing i was waiting for hegehog rom download to finish and now on hungarian r1slb its android system 99% and no phone dialler in battery use whatsoever That's because the Hungarian ROM is Eclair, and not Froyo. Eclair doesn't have the dialler battery issue.
Guest ballist1x Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 i know thats why i installed it
Guest goatee Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 i know thats why i installed it lol, fair enough - sorry for the obvious comment B).
Guest ballist1x Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 lol np. i was just explaining for the OP what id done, as he'd asked me to write back my findings but basically i jumped rom instead of waiting to see.
Guest goatee Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 I tried this, then wiped my battery stats, and dialler usage is showing at 88% (as opposed to 98%). Interestingly, when I had power tutor running, it was only showing as dialer using around 1% CPU usage, so it's odd that it's using so much battery, if it's barely touching the CPU.
Guest igors_s Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 I'm running gForums Alpha froyo rom. Checked today and dialer was not in the list. android system is reporting 94% usage thought. i did not do anything special and did not apply any of the tweaks in this thread. it was definitely there before, but no more.

Hi Igor_s are you saying that you've never had issues with dialler eating up your battery? or did you install battery tutor? (not really a tweak in my understanding!)
