samsung galaxy europa getting cheap on

argos for £99 on 3 and £89 at play on vodafone. Advertised elsewhere at £170 B)

I've got an SF but thinking of buying one of these for my wife so if there is a fault that develops later, on either phone they won't both go together.

Are they any good?

Asking here as there does not seem to be a "device specifi"c for it.

Thats the one! will go and have a look at it. Not heard of e2save before and if they don't take Paypal I will it give it a miss. £89 now at carphonewarehouse plus mandatory £10 top up but it is unlocked and I have not seen anyone unlocking this phone yet. All set to buy it on Monday.

e2save is a subsidiary of carphonewarehouse

So it should also be unlocked?

Decisions Decisions.

Wonder if a carphone shop will price match. ;)

it'll be unlocked, cpw shop wont price match as it's a clearance item, meaning it's been returned within another customer's 14 day cancellation period.

AHHH I see! ;) didn't know about that 14 day guarantee. We did fancy that Alcatel OT980 that looks like a BB torch but thought it would be too glitchy. May give that a go now its only £79(I think).

europa has capacitive screen, OT980 has resistive, you would notice a difference

Thought bugger it I'll order it from E2save.

Gone up to £89 now ;) :P :P

CPW on Monday.

Ordered CPW online on Tuesday on t-mobile for £99.98 all in. Not delivered next day as stated. Still not here today and tracking says its been returned. Cancelled it as its available now on orange and voda from CPW for £75.95=£10 top up. When T-mobile go the same I'll have one again. :)

Got one for £75 and although its screen is not as good or as big as my SF the phone is better when making calls especially when on speaker. Loads of extras available like sub £2 gel cover that was made for it unlike the SF that has none as yet.

Satnav,Facebook all the other stuff work great. Can't go wrong really.

Just got two for £160 from CPW. I compared them to the LG GT540. The LGs screen has a higher resolution and a slightly bigger screen but being resistive it wasnt as responsive and the big thin is that it wouldve been £200 for two. I don't think you would be getting £20's worth more phone.

running Froyo or Eclair?

Running Eclair. They are upgradeable to Froyo if you want the US or Asian version, but I hear it works perfectly on UK Europa's. I'm sure a UK/EU Froyo update will come soon enough.

Both the units I bought are suffering from the repeating SMS bug. Hopefully this will be fixed with an update soon, enought people are getting it!

can this phone be unlocked for free does anyone know?

not for free, for £12 via code, I know two people who have ordered it already and I'm waiting for them to tell me if theirs are unlocked

You can always use a giffgaff sim, as it runs on the O2 network you don't need to unlock the phone

Yes, read: http://forum.xda-dev...5&postcount=334

and it's a great phone for the money, got one for my wife last Christmas, with a Motofaco ROM she gets days of battery life;

http://techbits.co.in/forum/index.php?tid=4904&tpg=all&title=Update_GALAXY_I5500/5503_TO_FROYO_%28MOTAFOCA%29_MOD

It's on Three.ie PAYG for €39 and I'm trying to think of a reason why we need another phone in the house - that or waiting for the Samsung Y
