this is the recovery from the 309_0_00 version released by dell last week.

It should allow easy way to fix the "black screen" and "stuck on logo"

flash this with fastboot, then run the update.pkg from the sdcard by dropping into recovery .

(next person that says bricked shouldn't get helped) B)

I initially flashed from AT&T 1.6>O2 1.6>O2 2.1> to the "Untouched" fastboot method and had the 720p force close issue. I just used this recovery image and the latest build from Dell and it now works great! Thank you!

As long as we are at it, I am on a stock AT&T US Locked Streak - 1.6, build 6601, and baseband GAUSB1A111231. Here is what I am thinking of doing, but I am not 100% sure if it will work or not:

(1) rename the Streak_318_12821_00.pkg to Update.pkg (is it capital "U" or lower case "u" by the way)?

(2) copy the Update.pkg (or update.pkg) to the root of the SD card

(3) flash recovery via fast boot by doing the following:

C:\android-sdk-windows\tools>fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img

C:\android-sdk-windows\tools>fastboot -i 0x413c reboot

(4) reboot into recovery and apply the the update.pkg

(5) reboot and factory reset.

So, can I start from 1.6 and go straight to the 309 image then to 318, or do I need to move to O2 1.6, then to O2 2.1 before I can upgrade? I have been through all this with my old Streak which had to be sent back to Dell because it started doing regular and random factory resets. I promised myself I would wait on 2.2 until the update came straight from Dell, but I now hear that that could be more than a month away. I just can't take 1.6 anymore, especially since 2.2 has all the features and speed I require.

In short, I want to get to an official 2.2 as soon and as safe as possible, what is the best way to go from stock 1.6 as mentioned above?

Can you tell me if this worked, if you tried it Ed Venture?

This method works for you? you device you put in fastboot manual using the buttons(power & camera)?

I can state that 1.6 -> 2.1 -> 2.2 works, i don't know about 1.6 -> 2.1, but in theory, it should.

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and I'm new to the world of ROM flashing and fastbooting, but I have an idea how to safely do thats stuff.

I need help with specifics though, since my problem is technique it's just procedural order.

As of now, I'm running a Dell streak with o2 Android 2.1, build 8105 with a basband 21.

I want to upgrade to the official 2.2, so I rooted the 309 recovery.img and put the 318 pkg and called it update.pkg on my root sd.

However, haven't had luck since I'm getting a mismatch fota report. I tried just upgrading to the 309 update but it failed the same way too.

I must be missing a step, and I was hoping this forum could help me fill in the pieces.

Thanks

*** Never mind, I got it to work.

**Edit - ignore that sorry - downloaded to another location that did not already have a recovery image in it - extracted fine.

Hi Guys,

Having an issue with this recovery rom. Flash appears ok but when booting into recovery I just get a black screen.

Tried from 2 different PCs. Same result. Installing a ClockworkMod recovery boots fine. Booting the device into the OS is fine too.

Any ideas please???. I have the factory Optus (AU) v1.6 version.

because 309 recovery it s not compatible whit 1.6rom ,you need to update to 2.1 first or untached 2.2 +309recovery

Awesome worked a treat! Because I have the Optus version had to run the QDTool update first. Upgrading Optus Dell Streak - Whirlpool Then applied the Untouched 2.2 and voila. :)

I've been trying for days to revert from Steve's 1.5 to 118 with no success at all.

Tried again this morning by unzipping Fards 309 recovery image and copying to Fastboot and renaming it 309FardsRecovery (Tried 309, Fards, Recovery but just blank screen every time)

Dunno why this worked this time, but it did

Used Fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery 309fardsrecovery.img and for some reason it worked.

tried this afternoon by reinstalling CWmod 2.5.1 and Steve's 1.5 then purposely renamed '309FardsRecovery.img' to fards for a rollback test...didnt work, renamed to Recovery.....didnt work, renamed to 309...didnt work, changed to 309fardsrecovery and it boots fine.

Maybe just a curiosity, but still a strange one all the same.

Hoping that the 309 recovery will work for O2's 15/12/10 release too.

I just play with ROM's to see what i like best. Liked Steve's 1.5 but lack of an essential calendar and slightly quicker battery drain put me off, so back to a 'Basic build' for me (for now)
