Guest danz0l Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 Does anybody else experience a very hot battery when charged into the mains and yout still using the phone ? Mine today was ridiculous hot
Guest Teh H4rRy Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 Everything I own gets toasty when I am charging it. Best way I have got around it would be to leave the phone on a cold surface to act as a heat sink. For example mine is ontop of my cold glass desk. Never gets hot B)
Guest Akrios Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 (edited) Hey, Mine gets warm, but not 'ridiculously hot'. You can check your battery temperature; download this: http://www.appbrain.com/app/battery-watche...rampton.battery I've never seen mine go above 27 degrees celsius, and that is whilst using the phone as it charges. Guest Magnets Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 Mine gets warm just next to the camera when charging, certainly not "hot" though.

Now i stopped using it and just let it charge its back to being warm again but at one point it got very hot. Will check that battery temperature app.
Guest Mike_P Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 (edited) Highest I've seen on mine is 39 Celsius after I'd been watching about 45 mins worth of YouTube. Can't remember what it gets to when charging, think the highest temp I'd seen before was around 34 Celsius so when it hit 39 it really stood out. Actually on a USB charge now, think it was on 28 Celsius when it started (24% charge), currently 30 celsius (36% charge). If I remember I'll post what it reaches at full charge. Edit :- full charged now still at 30 Celsius, sure I've seen it higher before but ambient temp is a bit low atm. Edited November 23, 2010 by Mike_P
Guest Arr Too Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 When I bought my SanFran I was rather taken aback when the lass serving me told me to initially charge it up for about 6 hours, and then from then on only charge it for an hour or two a day (i.e. not left on the charger overnight) or else... it might overheat. Never heard that recommended before, and I've not noticed it getting warm, although the area on the phone near the little USB connector does seem to get warm.

I'm no expert but from what I understand, if you overcharge a lithium battery, it will explode. The charger circuits are designed to shut off the charging current when the battery reaches full capacity. You can't overcharge it by just leaving it plugged in to the charger.
Guest John Hamelink Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 I hate to bring up dead topics, but I'm experiencing the same issue. My phone's temperature is currently at 42 degrees C, although it gets significantly hotter when plugged in by the mains (using the charger that came with the phone - which also gets hot).
Guest GX390 Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Yeah mate mine gets pretty hot if I play games for a while.
Guest amd3000 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Common thing i think. Mine gets real hot when plugged in in car using copilot. Always turn it off at night when charging as battery seems to last longer that way.
