OK here you go for a quick review B)

Phone is the same shape/size as Acer Liquid/E. Metal finish is excellent (full metal body would have been even better though). Build quality is very nice and the phone feels sturdy.

The screen is a little larger compared to Liquid E but you don't really notice the difference. Image quality is great. The screen surface is not flat wich gives a funny impression at first but its nice though.

You still get the alert icons on the top through the metal plate, very nice.

Comes loaded with Acer stream UI which gives some nice improvements but I still prefer Launcher Pro. There's a nice new app called Social Jogger to manage facebook/twitter accounts.

Other than that phone is very responsive, CPU seems to be powerfull. No info on battery life yet but it comes loaded with a 1500Mah battery.

Oh and USB is non standard...too bad :)

Overall it's an excellent device, audio quality is great during calls and it has dolby mobile for your listening pleasure.

And I love the DLNA server function !!!

I took a few pics, sorry for the average quality I don't have time to do better for now.

Looks like regular Micro USB to me? Which, by the way, will be the official standard charger connection in Europe in 2011.

Anyway thanks for the review. Looks nice!

Indeed it's a micro USB. I'm used to mini-usb that's why I called it non-standard. I knew USB would become standard but I didn't know it was micro-usb, thanks for the info.

I have one for the office, one for me and one for my wife :)

You have too many phones! I'd be happy to take the metal off your hands B)

Already tried this?

Should be flashable in recovery mode.

SuperUser is on the market too, assuming there's no custom recovery for the Metal.

P.S : What about making a dump ? B)

What about using this which exploits an adb vulnerability to root it...

superuser and universalandroot don't work. I've been able to flash Malez recovery but I can't boot it so far.

I contacted Malez to give him a dump as soon as possible to make sure his recovery is fully compatible and start working on LCR B) but I'll release it on the forum for everybody.

It seems the usual key combination do not work on this Liquid :)

Thanks for your help guys !

Hi everybody,

I currently have an Aver Liquid Metal in my hands but so far I've been unable to root it. Usual methods do not work and I can't get adb acess either due to a lack of driver.

Anybody has a clue how I could perform rooting ?

Thanks.

Have a look at this. I have managed to root Metal using it (and galaxy S too). I don't know if my source had isntalled some specific drivers for it but it worked (at least in pre-final leak)

EDIT : uploaded v1.2 to fix sleep issue
