Guest chall32 Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) The issue: All Froyo ROMs based on the Chinese 2.2 leak appear to have the Dialer application consume battery. This can be seen via: Home Screen > Menu > Settings > About Phone > Battery Use Something similar to the following will be seen: BEFORE AND AFTER: After some serious playing with two San-Fran's - one with the issue and one without, I've managed to fix the issue on the phone with and move it to the phone that didn't previously have it. THE FIX: Really quite simple, turn off (as in un-tick) the "Turn to mute" setting via: Home Screen > Menu > Settings > Sound > Turn to mute This resolved the dialer issue for me! Comments welcome - Chris Edited November 23, 2010 by chall32

Guest chall32 Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) Yep works here too! how odd! managed to turn the dialler problem on then off! Yeah, it's fixed my phone. Cool! So it's confirmed then. Disabling "Turn to mute" resolves the dialer issue. My guess is that the phone is constantly sensing it's orientation. Why show that as "Dialer" is anyone's guess. Guest rayraven Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 That's great, this and the connect to market on 3G were the only things keeping me on 2.1 Now, i'm mighty tempted to make the jump to 2.2 B)

Guest gd4321 Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Confirmed, un-ticked “Turn to mute” then had to power down, then power up, dialler then disappeared.

Guest ezablade Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) Awesome, good work that man.... Now work out how to fix the coarse gps issue B) Looking good, just need GPS working and I can try Froyo again... Edited November 23, 2010 by ezablade
Guest igors_s Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) I did that a while ago... and the issue is now gone. Did not realise why untill now. That must've been it B) Well done! :) That also explains why Spare Parts was reporting high Sensor usage by the dialer! Edited November 23, 2010 by igors_s
Guest popoyaya Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 some observations after 2 hours of the fix... using quick system info to view battery usage two new items have appeared, "cell standby" and "phone idle". this is the first time these have showed up leading me to believe the phone was never going into proper standby or idle mode before. battery level after two hours 98% looking good!
Guest Lew247 Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) That would explain why I couldn't find a problem with my dialer. The first thing I did after flashing the 2nd time was turn the turn to mute function off as it really bugged the heck out of me the first time I tried the rom Been working a week now with no problems with the dialer Edited November 23, 2010 by Lew247
Guest paddymcn Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Thanks Chris, nice find. For anyone not moved to froyo I would highly recommend it. I have no wi-fi issues, no gps issues and now no dialler issues. The only problem for me is the fm radio issue and some other 'clever dick' found a workaround for that too...
Guest Aranathos Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Working! Battery Usage now shows: Display 40% Cell standby 32% Now to test battery life.
