Guest That-Guy Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Just wondering if anyone has got this running smoothly on their blade? It seems to stutter badly on the more complex levels. I have tried 2 ROMs, one with hardware acceleration off and one with it on and it made no difference. Both ROMs were 2.1, I haven't tried with 2.2 yet. According to the Angry Birds website there is a lightweight version of Angry Birds in production for slower Android phones, which I guess includes the Blade.
Guest rayraven Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Turning off the ads helps, it still stutters a bit in the start, i think it tries to download ads to display which causes the slowdown. Waiting a few seconds after the level's loaded makes it smoother. That said, there are some complex levels which are very slow. And it's not just the blade, i've seen it on a desire and it's equally slow. It looks like the app could use some tune up.
Guest ballist1x Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 on hungarian release for the most part its fine. usuallyy i get a bit of stutter on the complex large maps at the start of the map when it shows the targets and then pans out and scrolls left to the user thrower thingy... it wasnt perfect on 2.2 or stock. which was very very dissapointing as the iphone seems to run without a glitch
Guest That-Guy Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Have also tried "AdFree" to block that Ads but still seems to be very slow on some levels. I hope the Lightweight version will be a great improvement without loosing all the graphical detail.
Guest meinnit Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 As mentioned giving it a few seconds (up to 20 for some levels!) on complex levels helps. I think its because the ememy and structures are "bouncing" therefore using requiring a lot of processing time
Guest rayraven Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 ^Yeah, they settle a bit, as the physics engine takes over i think.
Guest chall32 Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Have you tried the Optimised / AdFree version of Hungry Birds? Details here
Guest lixcab Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Try playing with WiFi and network data off from powercontrol widget. Stops ads from landing and runs angry birds like a champ. Running flb froyo.
Guest That-Guy Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) Have you tried the Optimised / AdFree version of Hungry Birds? Details here Sounds good, in what way is it optimised do we know? Edited November 23, 2010 by That-Guy
Guest chall32 Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) Not sure to be honest. The thread over at xda does go on a bit Did notice that the guy who did the optimisation ended up being offered a job with the developers of angry birds! Edited November 23, 2010 by chall32
Guest steff.jay Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 Try playing with WiFi and network data off from powercontrol widget. Stops ads from landing and runs angry birds like a champ. Running flb froyo. thanks for the tip, mate it's still a bit laggy, but much more better now B)
Guest ballist1x Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 i tried the custom version of the game, sadly it crashed about 3 times at random moments...
Guest malooga Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 It works fine on mine(gforums 2.2) for a while, but the longer i play the more stuttery it gets. Its like its eating up the ram or something, but doing it slowly.
Guest Lemppari Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 Mine works really smoothly. Hardly never any lag. I don't have the adds tough, so I don't know if there will be a performance hit. Overall the phone is snappy as hell. I'm running the rom it came with, which should be the native ZTE Blade rom with only few minor tweaks. Not the orange version of the Blade, FYI.
Guest That-Guy Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 Will just wait for the Official Lightweight Version me thinks B)
Guest Keljaden Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 I've found it runs more smoothly the more you zoom out. Try pinching-out so that you can see the whole level on the screen.
Guest BaChot Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 downloaded the free version from market, and its working well and smoothly on my OSF.
Guest Simon O Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 There is a modified version around with the ads removed and the APK optimized. It certainly feels smoother on my phone. Actually the guy that modified this is now working with Rovio to help improve the performance of Angry Birds in future releases.
