Guest batman_man Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Hey guys I was hoping if anyone would be kind enough to help please. I have had my dell streak for a while now, and i have successfully upgraded from the stock o2 1.6 to leaked o2 2.1. the problem is that i am trying to move to Dj_steve's 2.2 and i need clockwork recovery for it. I have downloaded all the necessary files and i have followed the instructions to a 'T' (atleast im 99.99999% sure)...and also around 2 months ago i successfull did get clockwork recovery on it! but now i check and its just the stock recovery..which is very strange, so i thought i would just do the same again. so i started by running the batch file and my phone shows me that its been written on to the phone i.e after going into fast boot mode and then running the batch file it says that recovery downloaded... the weird thing is when i boot into recovery, the stock recovery shows up B) ...i have repeated the steps Many many many times but to no avail ! anyhelp would be great... P.S- i also made sure that the right drivers are used for my phone i.e. the bootloader interface cheers
Guest Cue_32 Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 do you mean you get the black screen after selecting option 2? What happens after you select option 2? It should go to the custom recovery then If not, you have to try the alternate recovery file. Id attach the link but I'm doing this from my Streak on the road. B)
Guest RichB93 Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) Did you do this? Update: The stock 2.1 build has a built in mechanism that is overwriting the stock recovery image. To disable this, with your device booted and rooted, enter the following at a command prompt (in the directory where you extracted the zip above) before re-flashing the recovery image using the instructions above: adb-windows shell (or adb-linux shell or adb-mac shell) su mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mtdblock6 /system && rm /system/etc/install-recovery.sh && mount -o remount,ro /dev/block/mtdblock6 /system exit exit Edited November 23, 2010 by RichB93

So flash away I go... Phone aspect? I think call waiting is still an issue, but who uses their smart phones as a 'phone' mainly nowadays?? Everyday use? its perfect Media? Video and Audio works... just use 3rd party ones like Rockplayer and Winamp Force Closures? Only when I close the stock browser. Accelerometer issue has been fixed for me since 1.2.... 1.4.5 is even better IMO. I just needed to flash 1.4.5 twice to get the market working properly but otherwise it's the best build so far. (It just gets better and better)
