Guest dutch6 Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 Hi Everyone. Im new to andriod and to the forum. Firstly I have to say this site/forum is a fabulous resource. A thank you to all involved. I get my Orange San Francisco today and I and looking forward to using my first android phone. Having looked at the posts on this site the phone is best when rooted and all the orange junk removed. I have looked at the post below and watched the video 04/Oct r3: Superboot Root + MCRi it looks a fairly simple process to perform. I have downloaded the fastboot and MCRi superboot files ok. However, the video uses a custom ROM called mcri-system-blade-mcr-r1.tar.gz this gets renamed to mcri-system.tar.gz when its transferred across to the SD card. Can anyone tell me where to download the ROM with that file name? Its probably me but i cant find a ROM with that file name or that file type. Many thanks for any help. Dutch6
Guest ptdborth Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 Hi, forget about that post for now (4th oct root+mcri) and move on to the 7th oct clockworkmod recovery install, its almost the only supported way of getting roms now. Quite straightforward once you have a quick read through that sticky. Cheers. Paul Hi Everyone. Im new to andriod and to the forum. Firstly I have to say this site/forum is a fabulous resource. It does say there are some know issues. Does anyone know if this works ok? Many thanks Mark

Many thanks Mark I should think 95% of the users on this forum are using clockwork-mod..the issues do not really affect us, such as ext2 partitioning not working.. but backup, restore, install zips, clear cache/data are working perfect so that's you need really. Guest ezablade Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 It works fine. I'd never even seen an Android phone until I bought the SF, but, I'm quite happy changing ROMs and Android versions without batting an eyelid now... all thanks to the help of the experts on here. Just follow the instructions step by step, and you'll have no problems. I think the problems most people have is when they read the instructions, then try it without reading them fully whilst they are doing the updates. Take the time to read the posts and you should be OK.
