Guest gr1ffiths Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 Hi All. My GPS was working well around 2 weeks ago (without Assisted data connection) and now I cannot get any gps. Do you think I have a faulty GPS component?? Also if I have to send it to Orange for replacement/repair Should I flash it back to the orange rom (factory state)??? If so, How do I do it??? I am on r3 rom. Thanks Leighton
Guest Cribby Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 (edited) Having the same problem as you. Made a thread about some weeks ago and thought I had fixed it with a app called "GPS Status". But it only worked for a day or so. Now I have read many others with the same problem including you (I assume you don't get any GPS fix). Yesterday I read that wiping the cache in clockwork would solve the problem. Guest toytown Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 My GPS was also working correctly for approx 3 weeks, but yesterday it had major problems, i tried a hard-reset to fix it, but it didnt work. I phoned up Orange to get a replacement phone but the operator told me they were going to send a software update to it and if that didnt work then i could get a replacement. I was told that once i got the update i could reboot the phoen and that would fix it...........i never got the update. Whilst i was waiting, i read through some posts and found out about the GPS Status and Toolbox. Running it and doing the reset fixed my GPS and its worked correctly today. I'll post back here if it collapses again. Using "GPS Test" i would get between 8-9 satellites in use, but the accuracy would jump up/down between 90-450feet, my brother stood next to me (also a san fran) would get the same SNR readings from the sattelites, but his gps lock would stick at a constant 6feet accuracy and not budge (indicating a solid lock)
Guest pinglis Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 wonder if one these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VODAFONE-51-CH-BLUET...=item2c58f2388f would be of any help or if it would even connect to the sf
Guest bobby-gg Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 I was have the same problems, I fact I've had problems since the beginning with my GPS What mine was doing was 'dropping' the 3g signal everytime the gps started up - I proved it by switching off the GPS in the setting and I could then access the maps no problem, although with very limited accuracy Since then I now on the hungarian hedgehog rom and that has been working correctly for a week or so now, even leaving the GPS switched, but I believe it was an app I had installed because this time I've only installed the very minimum and it's still working.

Guest gr1ffiths Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Thanks guys, No GPS fix at all, did the "GPS Status" reset but didn't work. Gutted because I had it working with CoPilot sat nav program few weeks ago. Will have to phone Orange for a replacement. Will it be ok to leave the custom rom on if I need to send it back???
