Clockwork/Rom Manager for US 1.6 (31/AT&T)?

Greetings,

I apologize if this has been asked and answered previously, but I did do a search and could not find what appeared to me to be a definitive answer.

I have a a US Streak I purchased directly from Dell, and it is therefore an AT&T model with the 31 baseband. I did call AT&T to get an unlock code though, and have successfully unlocked it.

What I want to do next before I dive into the different basebands and ROM versions is install Rom Manager (Clockwork?) and get a full and good Nandroid backup.

How can I go about this? I did see somewhere that apparently a modified version of Clockwork is required? Is this true? Will I need to remove it before I start playing around with different ROMs? What recovery works and should I use after I install a Froyo build?

Sorry for the noob-ish questions, I do know my way around my other android phones fairly well, the Streak is just a different animal to me right now.

Thanks all,

-Rob

Umm, as far as I know, nandroid has not worked for backing up the dellstreak. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but from what I remember when during the updates before 2.1, I was never able to do a backup. So, I would suggest using another app, like Titanium Backup (of which a free version is available on the market).

Anyway, from 1.6, you should upgrade to 2.1, then a froyo build. Go here to start on your 2.1 path: http://android.modaco.com/content/dell-str...rboot-recovery/

I'm sure you've seen the many posts on upgrading to froyo.
