This is just a quick thankyou to Paul and the many others who have contributed to this great forum. It is rare to find such a wealth of information for a device which has only just hit the streets (has it hit the streets yet?). Thanks to you my Vega is on version 1.04/r3. I think I would have had a real problem getting the Android Debug Bridge working on my Win7Pro 64-bit without the help I found here. I've subscribed to the kitchen by way of thanks, although I'm going to wait a while before trying to bake my own ROM. ;)

Hi Paul,

What chance of A2SD+ for the Vega?

Seems to me that a tablet like this wants a lot of applications installed... and probably a 32GB SDHC card...

Ta.

Hi Welsh,

I have backed everthing up in titanium to the card, I think I will wait untill r5 then if it wont install go back to 1.04 then do r5.

Will titanium restore all apps from the market if I buy the pro version? I tried as a test removing an app in the expectation I could go to titanium and restore it from the backup but it seems to have removed the backup as well?

Hi,

I use the batch mode in titanium to back everything up. When I did a restore after a vega update the other day it did indeed restore the apps I had downloaded from the market. Best to have a play with titanium though to make sure you have backed the apps up as I've seen it do annoying things at time on my pulse.

Got my vega through a couple of days ago and had the prebake R4 running on it but hearing good things about the performance pack i signed up for adfree.

Got my kitchen rom done okay (removed car stuff) but during the install process i get a couple of things fail, these are

Remounting system partition

remount succeeded

pkg: /system/etc/shuttle_priv/libflashplayer_froyo_gles2_20101019_v10.1.

95.18_signed.apk

Success

Making room for new files

rm failed for /system/lib/hw/wlan_ar6002, No such file or directory

rm failed for /system/etc/Dix, No such file or directory

Bluetooth fix

mkdir failed for /system/etc/bluez, File exists

failed on '/system/etc/bluecore6.psr' - No such file or directory

Setting permissions

Done, rebooting

The vega works okay but should i be worried about the above failed sections.

nothing to worry about

they fail because the files were already removed or created when flashing the prebake

Well, kind of. Froyo allows moving apps to sd, but only for apps that give permission, and even then you don't get the dalvik cache moved across.

A2SD+ is a much more comprehensive solution. It would make a lot of sense to have it for something as powerful as the Vega, because it has surprisingly little space on /data, and you really are going to want a lot of apps installed.

assuming your using windows.

first check 'USB debugging' is enabled in settings/applications/development

if it is then make a new text file and paste:

adb-windows.exe devices

pause

save it as check-device.bat and save it into the r4-vega-modacocustomromaddon-unsigned folder

then run check-device.bat

if the right drivers are installed it should show a device.

It finds the device, will it be my vista that is causing the problems?

I don't want to go over old ground , but I would really appreciate some help as I can't update the tablet after having downloaded the ROM from the kitchen

Perhaps you wouldn't mind re-writing the procedure in simples terms as I am going round in circles having tried the update the vega from two separate computers

I had the * Daemon Started Successfully * problem when I tried to update my Vega.

I found that I had to remove the device from Windows and then reconnect with debugging enabled.

This is from memory:-

* Plug the Vega into the computer

* Go into device manager (right-click My Computer -> click Manage -> click Device Manager)

* Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers and right-click USB Mass Storage Device and choose Uninstall

* Unplug the Vega and enable debugging mode

* Plug the Vega back into the computer

* It should prompt for a driver. Use the driver in the MoDaCo Rom (you will need to unzip it)

* When the device has finished installing, runisntall-windows.bat

Again this is from memory but I hope it helps point you in the right direction.

is this the newbie version of installing the modaco rom?

Sorry to be a nuisance but just got new Vega and want to update to 1.04 prior to adding add-on pack.

Tried to do the upgrade lite version from the myadventvega website and downloaded the image directly

to my vega "softwareImage_v1.04_Vega_Final.exe" then went to Software update on the Vega but it cannot see this

file?? Any tips, I know I could do this via the PC but did not want to end up messing about with different USB drivers.

Appreciate any useful pointers, thanks.

I would have taken screenshots but my Vega has gone away until Christmas.

Well expect to see me back here early on the 25th!!!!!! No hangovers now I want have this rocking before being dragged off around town visiting the relatives ! :P

In fact, PAUL, could you please draft a Christmas day MoDaCo Vega upgrade guide for dummies!!!!

That would be an extra special Xmas gift! (even if it's just for modaco add free or plus account users!) ;)
