Rooting Desire Amoled versus SLCD

Hi everybody,

got a silly question. Is there any difference in a way to root Desire Amoled and Desire SLCD?

I would like to use Unrevoked one click root and then flash Modaco R9.

Anything I should take care of? Any differences etc.?

No. Use unrevoked and it will work.

Just don't forget to read their FAQ because you need to install some drivers for windows first. You'll find all the info there.

No difference in rooting but in unrooting there is.

If it's an unbranded/simfree/unlocled device then the above doesn't apply and you're fine, there are SLCD RUU's for you to use should you need to unroot. But if your SLCD device is from (not on, from!) T-Mobile then you're at more risk if you need to send it back to them for fixing as at the moment there is no TMUK SLCD RUU available.

I would definitely use Unrevoked but still make a gold card, just in case.

That's not strictly true, there is the Austrian one but it'd be a bit dodgy sending it in...

Yeah, missed that bit. Still reckon that guide I posted from XDA in that other threads would work, though :P
