Guest duncw Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 I've been using the free trial with Wavesecure and think it would be something that is useful to have. However when you back the contacts up dashes are added. eg. 01465 798798 becomes 0145-6798-798. Then when you restore the contact to your phone and try to call it you get 'number not recognised'. I contacted Wavesecure and this was the reply This is an issue with the android OS. We use an Android API to get the VCARD of the contact that has been added to the phone. I created a test contact and added two numbers. One was added in the format of 077-771-1122 and the other one in the format of 07777 111222. When WaveSecure gets the VCARD both the numbers were in the the format with dashes. BEGIN:VCARD VERSION:2.1 N:;Test;;; FN:Test TEL;HOME:077-771-1122 TEL;CELL:077-771-1122 END:VCARD We do deal with the phone numbers as strings. Unfortunately, the Android system standardizes the numbers before it returns the VCARD as the reply to the API call. I have asked if they can do a replace on the dashes but haven't heard back yet. Does anyone know if there is an app or something to prevent the dashes being added?

Guest Magnets Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 myphoneexplorer can backup and restore contacts.
Guest duncw Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 So if I select "Sync Contacts" in account settings will it add all my phone contacts to my google contacts? I thought it just added google contacts on to the phone. I would try it but I need to log on to a computer first and tidy up the contacts in there. A lot of names have been added automatically so I dont want them coming down on the phone!
