Guest jonas_football Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 My university uses this too, it uses Secure W2 wireless for its network I got it to work by going into wireless&networks, wifi-settings, add wifi network Type in the Network SSID name(the wireless network's name- case sensitive) security-802.1x enterprise (enter in your credential password) EAP METHOD-TTLS Phase 2 Authentication: PAP Identity-Your university wireless login username e.g. student number Wireless Password-your password Thats the setup for mine, your university network may vary slightly, also if you make a mistake you can't edit the settings, you have to delete the network settings and start again i quoted this text from another thread. I have spent a lot of time trying to connect to the University of Aberdeen secure network...and have actually managed to setup the wi-fi so that it connects. however i get no data stream, it says i am connected but if i try using apps or the web it says i do not have a connection. i also noticed, that i can connect even if i change some of the settings when i set up the network. eg EAP method: PEAP instead of TTLS...but have the same result. Did anyone manage to connect to either eduroam or resnet? One of the main reasons i bought the phone was to use the wi-fi, and as i am living in halls...thats the only network available! PLEASE HELP! thanks in advance Jonas
Guest Arr Too Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 It's quite common for educational establishments to use a proxy (usually a heavily filtered one). There doesn't appear to be a way to set a proxy on Android at present (at least, not on the Blade). Use of a proxy may also break apps that do non-standard connections (i.e. not HTTP).
Guest Freekers Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 At my university, I can't even connect. The wifi settings application FC's... I think due to the large amount of wifi networks
Guest brandt14 Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Maybe this will work http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=766569
Guest milkykung Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 (edited) Did anyone manage to connect to either eduroam or resnet? Hi Jonas and others with the same problem ^^ I just found your thread and that was the problem I had earlier with my University WiFi too. I think I would like to share what I did in order to solve this frustration. I'm lucky in the sense that my University IT department recommends a use of Android app called "Xpressconnect" from the Android market. This app basically allows you to connect to the WPA2-enterprise edition or 802.11x standard network with ease, in this case, "eduroam". All you have to do is connect to one open access point of your University WiFi (the one without security, which is needed to do communicate with the authentication server), open the app, let it scan for the network and finally, enter your username+password. The app might be forced close but the latest update has been far better than the previous version. Let me know if you get stuck at any point and I'll try to help if I could. Hope this helps, Edited November 25, 2010 by milkykung

EDIT: ah, something popped up and says "no stored data" to join the network using xpressconnect, please return to the organizations website and click the "join the network" link Edited November 25, 2010 by jonas_football
Guest Arr Too Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 The guides here suggest PEAP authentication and a proxy. Like I said, I don't think anyone's got proxies working on the Blade (at least).

Guest milkykung Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 It looks like your University authentication server may not support Android just yet. I'm afraid I cannot help you any further. FYI, in my case, there is a definite support and pages for Android device. Config file from University pages walks me through to the end of settings and it works right away. For what I can say now is, please also make sure you are connected to one open-access WiFi and browse to the settings page from your browser. It might be helpful to consult with the IT department in this regard too. Good luck ^^
