Guest JBSCARFACE Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 How To: Install Flash 10.1 On Android 2.1 Eclair Devices By Ali Waqas on Jun 18 2010 198 Comments It was a well understood myth that only Android 2.2 Froyo was capable enough to handle Flash 10.1. But now as the story unfolds, you can install Flash 10.1 onto your Android 2.1 Eclair powered handsets without any issues. The absence of a JIT compiler and other Froyo goodies might cause some performance issues, but in the end you will be able to surf Flash enabled websites without any problems. Here is the step by step guide on how to get Flash 10.1 on your Android 2.1 Eclair geared phone: The first step is to download flash_for_21.zip to your computer and extract the .apk file. Now navigate to the market and install “Apps Installer” utility to your phone. Now connect your Android phone to the computer and copy .apk file to your SD card. Make sure that it is in SD card root and not in a sub folder. After this launch “Apps Installer” on your phone and follow the on screen instructions to install flash_for_21.apk file. After installation is complete, simply reboot your phone and there you go! You now have Flash 10.1 on your phone. This method has been tested and confirmed operational for Google Nexus One, Droid Eris and HTC EVO 4G on stock Android 2.1 Eclair. FLASH HERE

Guest JBSCARFACE Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 This doesn't work as i tried it myself about a week ago. Maybe someone can help to sort this out?? Maybe need browser apk from 2.2?
Guest rayraven Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Dont think it's a problem with the apk. Flash currently only works on ARMv7 devices. The SF has a ARMv6 proccessor and cannot handle flash currently. Unless Adobe decides to bring it for ARMv6 devices, the only way is flash lite really.
Guest lilzad Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 (edited) is there anyway on installing it on 2.2?? i cnt seem to find it in the market area Edited ok i have managed to install this. i am not running on 2.1 i am on 2.2 however after downloading it installed perfectly fine. Does anyone have a link for Flash Lite or can anyone suggest something I look for in the market - all I can ever find is torches when I look for it! I found a reference to it suggesting it's only available for HTC phones, but surely androids is androids is androids, innit? Edited November 25, 2010 by The Soup Thief
Guest rayraven Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 There's a rom by kallt_kaffe, Hungarian Hedgehog, which has builtin flash lite support. Not sure if it works on the browser.
Guest Teasy Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 (edited) Really hope Adobe get Flash 10.1 for ARMv6 CPU's on Android sorted out soon. I used to watch Flash 10.1 content through a browser on my Nokia 5800XM, why not my San Fran. Edited November 25, 2010 by Teasy

Not sure if it works on the browser. Schweet - have to admit, I never really looked closely at hungarian hedgehog Wonder if I can lift the flash lite apk and drop it into Flibblesan's r3 lite? Will check around and see if anyone on the hedgehog thread has got flashlite working Thanks for the info :P
Guest rayraven Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Here's a thread that lets you install flashlite on any rom. http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...ck-android-2-1/

Guest twatter Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 (edited) I tried this several weeks ago and got the same results as above........... Form what I gather......the API is not there for the flash plug-in to take advantage, so it will never work Apparently there are some HTC device that worked but the performance was poor "DATE:25/11/2008 At the recent MAX conference, Adobe has given some more details about the upcoming Openscreen initiative. On a previous rom I had skyfire installed and it didn't seem to grumble at any site I was just fannying about trying to install flash lite and getting thwarted by mount system not giving me sufficient rights to drop files in the system libraries Think I'd best leave it there for the night Keep plugging away :D

Skyfire on my Nokia allowed me to view Flash 10.1 streams just the same as I could on my PC (ok not as fast but it was fast enough and the stream would even play right in the browser window), I used to use it to watch some Football online. Skyfire on Android does some flash, but its nowhere near as good, none of the sites I watch Football on work for instance. Edited November 25, 2010 by Teasy
Guest dadashi Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 I still haven't worked out how to write in the system files... I've installed "mount system" and turned on RW for system but it still doesn't work! Any ideas how I can write into system files...?
Guest G0DSPEED Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) Yeah skyfire on android is terrible compared to the winmob version I used to use. As mentioned you would actually see the website working full as it should do. Instead on this android version you see nothing and have bring up a menu and pray it can find the video streams of the current page your on - which it never seems to be able to do. Its a positive step backwards :P Edited November 26, 2010 by G0DSPEED
