Guest memoreks Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Hi all, Here's a head scratcher for all of you to mull over. Recently whilst on holiday in the Netherlands I decided my Legend wasn't man enough, so I treated myself to a new sim-free HTC desire from one of the mobile shops in Amsterdam. In the language options it has Netherlands (english) so I was happy. However, once home and able to use data once more, I found that this controls more than just the language of the interface. All my Google searches have dutch ads on them, for instance, and now when I install Amazon MP3 it tells me to select UK English instead, and refuses to go Amy further! So my question is this: how can I get UK English on to my phone as a language option? I'd rather not install a cooked ROM, as my experience of these in the bad old days of WinMo often left me with a somewhat random selection of features put together for the specific cooker who made it. Many thanks, Memoreks
Guest A380 Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Have you tried a factory reset with a UK sim in it? My experience is that my Desire (Android) thinks I'm German because of my German sim card, no other reason.
Guest wvn Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 The answer is so simple, that I fear I must have misunderstood your question. Home screem -> Menu -> Settings -> Language and keyboard -> Select language, then select "English (United Kingdom)". Should work. Wouter Hi all, Here's a head scratcher for all of you to mull over.
