Guest lixcab Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 25 November 2010 data network fail. I'm switching network after I've used the 20 squids you blagged out of me to get the san francisco.
Guest lixcab Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 I thought its just because I'm on payg but my wife's contract iPhone wouldn't work too!
Guest rbbrslmn Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 I thought its just because I'm on payg but my wife's contract iPhone wouldn't work too! PAYG and iphone are using the same masts arent they? the answer is simple, get your PAC and move over to another network, there are much much cheaper ones with better 3G. despite the fact that orange coverage maps say it covers the whole of liverpool I never once got a 3g+ connection with them but switched over to giffgaff/o2 and thats all I get.
Guest cobhc Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 Orange says I should get amazing signal at home, but I don't. I know O2 is worse, so is 3, and Vodafone, so I'm going to try T-Mobile and see what I get. I don't know how the networks can claim good coverage when it's obviously not right.
Guest triobot Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 http://www.mobilephonecoverage.co.uk/ doesn't harm to try :P
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 http://www.mobilephonecoverage.co.uk/ doesn't harm to try :P I still find the networks own service checking sites are poor indication. Nothing beats getting a PAYG sim and seeing if it works ok in your own area. Certainly better than getting stuck on a network for 2 years and no coverage.
Guest uberduck Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 Same here in Hull. i'm in Hull as well, their network is a joke I've tried the orange sim on my nexus one, and it seems that Orange doesn't like people idling on HSDPA. It forces my N1 to fall back to UMTS and every time my N1 tries to access the internet, it suffers a long delay (up to 10 seconds) switching between UMTS and HSDPA. I've spent nearly £2 calling orange and being told I'll be given a call back, but nobody bothered calling. Indian CS + vague promises, I would say orange is one of the worst networks in the UK.
Guest veehexx Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 ...I would say orange is one of the worst networks in the UK. based on our experience over the last 12months, Orange has been dire. i say our, since i'm our main Mobile phone support guy - i get to hear about alot of the user-side issues. dropped calls, missed calls and data connectivity have all been issues. mostly on the 3g network, so swapping to 2g does help. we wont be renewing our contract, so that should free up 1000+ connections in our city :P i used to think the world of Orange. i started with them back when everyday50 tariff was around. i perosnally blame 2 mergers: one was with that french company a few years ago (change in contracts/pricing), and the latest merger with Tmobile (major long-term network disruption) thats just not acceptible in a business environment. i've been loyal to orange for a long time, so i dont know whats good anymore. on the face of it, vodaphone seem fairly good...
