Automatic screensaver?

I'm trying to experiment with clock screensavers that are commonly found even on budget dumbphones.

The function is so useful but doesn't seem trivial on the Blade. :P

I found an excellent application called the Kaloer Clock which is very customizable and perfect for a clock screensaver and it keeps the phone from going to sleep, but turns the display practically off.

My only problem is that I can't get it to start automatically, let's say 30 seconds, after the phone is idle. I'd like to have it started before the sleep phase could kick in.

Any ideas on how to start an application based on an idle-timer or something like that?
