Guest merch Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) the device should support up to a 32GB SDHC card http://www.mymemory.co.uk/Micro-SDHC/MyMem...-Card---Class-4 - £52.99 32GB are still rather expensive but are slowly coming down in price but might be best getting a 16GB which can be found for much less around £16-20 In any case I think you should get a card that is class 4 or above. For those who dont know the higher the class the faster the access time on the card is (so smoother video playback). most cards will have a little number within a circle this is its class. I like to use hotukdeals to find my memory cards - > http://www.hotukdeals.com/search?action=se...s=micro+sdhc+16 Edited November 26, 2010 by merch

Guest lnux9898 Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 How do you upgrade? Is it a case of copying all stuff from one to the other? I'm thinking about apps installed to the sd etc... Based on my experience with other android devices, it should be just a case of copying things over on the new card.
Guest bigal Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 I was wondering this too. Slightly OT the manual says the vega comes with... "Micro SD card (already inserted into your tablet computer) SD Card Adapter" I've also read "The Advent Vega takes a microSD card of up to 32GB as well as having an SD slot, which comes with a 4GB card straight out of the box" This doesn't quite ring true to me. Am I right in thinking it only has one SD slot which is a full size SD card but they just happen to provide the Vega with a micro SD card and an adapter to suit? Would much appreciate it if someone could clarify this. Thanks Al
Guest ChocolateRobot Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 Based on my experience with other android devices, it should be just a case of copying things over on the new card. That is still the case with the Vega. I upgraded to a 16gb card no problem.

The only problem is the delay, I will be lucky to get the delivery before Xmas, this said I might be still waiting for the Vega!!

Guest warriorscot Posted December 4, 2010 Report Posted December 4, 2010 Just got a new 16gb for it today and its working so far. As a warning I had some problems with mine at first with getting the thing to format. I got it and copied over files from the original card to the new and then when I stuck it into the Vega got an error message and the Vega couldn't format the drive. Then when it went back in windows suddenly it couldn't format it either and none of the usual tools could get a format to stick it always showed errors after about a Gb of file transfer. Eventually I stuck it into an Ubuntu machine and had to use the disk utility to format it as master boot then make a fat32 partition after that the PC and Vega both loved the card. Probably some quirk of formatting that the card had when it arrived but it was a real PITA to fix.

Guest rferrett Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Must say I am having some difficulty formatting the new SD card. I have put it in and the vega says it is blank and I need to format it. I go settings > SD Card and Storage Settings> Format SD card. I get asked to put my unlock swipe code thingymebob.... then nothing happens. Help!
Guest warriorscot Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 Dont use the Vega use your PC/laptop. SD formatter is a tool for doing it with SD cards and works ok but microSD cards can be fussy. I ended up needing to use ubuntu and the disk utility it has to get it working but SD formatter should handle most stubborn SD cards.

I just formatted it in my HTC Desire and it worked fine after that!
Guest warriorscot Posted December 6, 2010 Report Posted December 6, 2010 That would work as well. I didn't have my phone on me to do it when I got my card and it needed formatted. Just be careful with it MicroSD cards can be fussy even after they are formatted sometimes it doesn't stick.
Guest worto03 Posted December 7, 2010 Report Posted December 7, 2010 I take it this card would be suitable? 16gb micro sd Class 4, Micro SD, Toshiba and £16.49 cheers, worto.
