Guest leugimp Posted November 27, 2010 Report Posted November 27, 2010 hello everyone. i need some help here, please. I want to buy this ZTE blade in england, but someone told me that ZTE is no longer skipping this equipment with oled screen. it seems that they are shipping the equipment with a normal tft/lcd screen. i saw this information in a portuguese forum, because here in portugal we expected the usual OLED screen , but the san francisco is only LCD. I know that its note the same for all countries, but this question emerge in the discussion. so, i would like to know if someone knows something about this question: new stocks of ZTE BLADE with LCD/tft screen? any information about dates for this sadly substitution??? can someone give the email of orange for this questions? best regards for everyone (sorry for my bad english) :P
Guest leetron1 Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 There was some talk that the OLED screens were in short supply prior to the release of the SF..maybe now its being pushed to all corners of the globe the manu is reverting to more widely available & prob cheaper LCD..
Guest Lollingsgrad Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 I just got off the phone to an Orange representative, they assured me it was the same phone and hasn't changed since release. This is in England.

This is in England. In Portugal they also assured us it was an AMOLED screen, even advertized that, but in the end they switched to LCDs. Orange also removed the OLED references from the SF description at their website.
Guest targetbsp Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 (edited) Orange also removed the OLED references from the SF description at their website. It's never said OLED - so if that's what you guys are basing your worries on you can stop worrying. :P Orange aren't that techie! Screenshot here, from September, to prove it: http://www.andronomy.com/archives/android-...00-from-orange/ Edited November 28, 2010 by targetbsp

Guest Polythene Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 Whatever screen they are using at the moment, side by side with a Samsung Galaxy, the SF is easily as vibrant and sharp!
Guest survann Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 Whatever screen they are using at the moment, side by side with a Samsung Galaxy, the SF is easily as vibrant and sharp! Well I don't think orange san francisco will change to LCD but who knows :>
Guest Rem1x Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 Whatever screen they are using at the moment, side by side with a Samsung Galaxy, the SF is easily as vibrant and sharp! That'll be the epic OLED :P
Guest Niks10 Posted November 28, 2010 Report Posted November 28, 2010 AMOLED shortage to become a surplus in 2011 http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/28/amoled-...urplus-in-2011/
Guest leugimp Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 can anyone confirm that orange is still selling Zte blade with OLED? someone who has bought yesterday, today or so...
Guest Lollingsgrad Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 I received my Orange San Francisco in grey today. It still has OLED, it's very obvious too. It probably has 512MB of RAM, but mine's only reporting 420MB.

Guest Lollingsgrad Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 That's normal (reporting 420MB) I figured. To be honest I wouldn't have kicked up a stink anyway. The phone I'm upgrading from is a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, so you can probably guess how blown away I am.

Don't know if thats what you wanted but you quoted another post from even another topic :P Edit: Oh and to stay on topic, the SF - at least until I got mine - does definitely have an OLED display. I don't know why tey should souddenly change the display. Best regards, BB

This is definitely OLED, I have no doubt, the screen is beautiful and the black is as black as black gets.
Guest kaska_pt Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 I'm also from Portugal and I bought yesterday an SF here, and obviously mine has LCD not OLED. Just saw the damn toppic afterwards lol... BUT, GUESS WHAT! I CAN GARANTEE YOU GUYS, that although these ones here aren't OLED, the display is just freakin awsome! if you were planning to buy one, just buy it! you won't be disappointed due to it's amazing resolution and 3.5" display. I have and HTC Desire, and I was simply amazed with the SF!
Guest xavia Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 (edited) It was from the Orange Store. I'm glad to read this mate, I probably go tomorrow (because today was a very snowly day!) to an orange store to buy one SF. I was afraid that Orange could already started to sell the SF with LCD screen :| So.. if I go and buy it tomorrow my phone will have OLED screen, right?! ;) Edited December 2, 2010 by xavia
