Hi all, running stackbladroid 2.2 Froyo, and was wondering if its possible to enable the data icon to display H for HSDPA rather than just 3g all the time? I know its a silly request but it bugs me lol.

Yeah i noticed the MCR displays 3g+ and 3g...whereas froyo roms all display just 3g for both.

I've mostly run roms based on the french blade rom and then the hungarian one. Both of these has a variable in the framework-res.apk set to false that is supposed to control if HDSPA is shown with an "H"-icon or not. The Orange rom has this one set to true I think. However changing this to true on the French or Hungarian ROM does not fix this which leads me to believe that the RIL does not report when HDSPA is used to Android. I've got some experience in this area when I worked on a project porting Android to a HTC windows mobile and we had to make the RIL report it and also enable that variable in Android. It might work to get the RIL libs from the Orange ROM and use them other roms _and_ change the variable in framework-res.apk but I haven't tried that (yet).

Until now I wasn't even aware that the original OSF ROM showed the HDSPA icon so I haven't bothered.

Fixed

Decompile framework-res.apk

Edit res\values\bool.xml

change config_hspa_data_distinguishable to true

recompile. Open original framework.res.apk using WinRAR then replace resources.rsc with the new one. Use 'store' method.
