clockword mod ready, prepare to flash

hi all,

I've been following Steven Harpers Guide and so far have...

Loaded up ubuntu

installed clockwork mod recovery nice and easily

booted into clockwork - all seems fine

created a backup using clockwork

put fibblesans froyo r3 rom onto the root of the SD card

So all is ready and i'm anout to take the plunge to flash for the first time, but just have some newbie questions.

1. Should it all go wrong, how easy is it to restore my backup from clockwork? is there any way i can check i have a "good" backup before going ahead?

2. when it comes to the actual flashing, i will wipe data and wipe cache, but i've heard some mention in some threads about wiping dalvik-cache? should i?

3. If you wipe the data / cache, but then decide not to flash the ROM, what would happen if you try to boot up normally?
