Froyo and location (GPRS/HSXPA?)

Just came across this thread:

Third posts suggests that messing with "ro.ril.hsxpa" and/or "ro.ril.gprsclass" makes the location off. No idea why -- anyone got experience of this?

Lower down it suggests that those parameters should be 2/12 for Europe and 1/10 for the US. It looks like the Froyo ROMs we have (from China) have the latter, so maybe this is something that could be tweaked for those of us in Europe. Other sources seem to confirm this. Again, anyone with experience of these (and other parameters) care to comment?
