Have you successfully edited a 2.2 boot img and then booted?

this is for windows only you need ActivePerl

download it here

extract my kitchen to your c drive

--------------------------------------

(1) then click 1.bat to extract the boot.img-ramdisk.gz , boot.img-kernel Ramdisk folder

then you can edit the ramdisk folder like e.g change startup logo , edit init.rc

(2) then click 2.bat to rebuild the boot.img

(3) put your phone into fastboot then click 3.bat to flash the boot.img

The upload has no errors, also the website works too. Don't blame it on the OP without trying.

For example you should try switching off firewall, antivirus and ad-blocker software when downloading from sites like mediafire,speedyshare,megaupload etc. etc.

I just downloaded the rar file from the mediafire link without any problems.

Hi does this not mess with file permissions as its made for windows and a fat and ntfs system can not handle unix file permissions? or does it not matter in the boot.img?

i think it dont matter iv made a boot.img for zte racer and blade it it and thay allways boot up ok

theres cygwin1.dll if anyone needs it just put it in windows/system32

Cygwin emulates a bash terminal in windows so you can use unix commands. You can get an installer from their website but I think it will just put a dll in system32. This isn't something the OP has made.

it would be not too hard to make a linux version with this

i would have make a option with this like 1.bat %1

with this you can edit others .img files

I installed the pearl stuff, but the bootimg.pl does not work. It fails with "USAGE: ..." Message.
