Guest robot1000 Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 I'm using 2.2 and I've been using Hullomail but there is a major issue that the message playback is output through loudspeaker only. Clicking on the speaker icon only seems to affect the volume level but does not change to the earpiece. Anyone know of a fix?
Guest IronDoc Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 Same problem. Using Flibble's ROM
Guest Putterill Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 Me too, same rom. Works perfectly apart from that, presumably it's a problem with this phone only as a google search is coming up blank.
Guest HulloDev Posted November 29, 2010 Report Posted November 29, 2010 Hi chaps, I think the problem is that your versions of android are reporting SDK level 8 so the app is choosing the wrong audio switching method for your devices. Basically the android audio apis have changed for every version of android so we have use SDK specific code for doing the speaker switching. I might be able to get a fix specifically for you phone type into the next release but I would need some way to determine that the device was a ZTE Blade running 2.2. I presume that 2.2 is not an official release for the Blade? is it ever likely to be? as I wouldn't want to fix it just for your ROMs (and therefore break it for any official release) Looking at the access logs I see [2.2][P729B][Orange San Francisco][ZTE] (Os version, product, model and brand from the android Build API) is that you guys? If you compile your own roms you could try setting the reported SDK to be 7 (Build.VERSION.SDK) and see if that fixes it As I say if you can get back to me with some more info I might be able to get a fix in for you cheers Chris HulloMail Dev
Guest robot1000 Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 Thanks for the response The ROM I used can be found here - http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...zte-blade-beta/ I've just posted a message on that thread about the issue

There are conflicting rumours as to whether Orange will release a 2.2 update or not, but if they do it will almost certainly be a re-branded version of the same source. I use ROMs provided by others more expert than me so the potential fix you mention is beyond me, however there is another discussion going on about the same issue with some VOIP apps, I'll post a link to this thread there and someone may be able to test it.
Guest meinnit Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 Same problem for me on Modaco Custom ROM 2.1 which is based on the official stock 2.1 ROM. I'm not sure whether it's using the speaker or ear piece and I can't change volume.
Guest Pully Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 Same problem for me on Modaco Custom ROM 2.1 which is based on the official stock 2.1 ROM. I'm not sure whether it's using the speaker or ear piece and I can't change volume. Hullomail works fine using the 2.1 Modaco Custom Rom r4, sound comes from the earpiece when that is selected and from the loudspeaker when I click the icon. Volume also adjusts (just tested on the loudspeaker and adjusts the media volume)
Guest Niks10 Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 Same issue for me, using froyo-r3a beta from fibblesan. I need some other help with voicemail, I am on T-mobile UK and also using hullomail. If i ask t-mobile to turn off my voicemail, would hullomail still work? Sorry posting this slightly off-topic.

Guest robot1000 Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 Is there any update with the Hullomail issue?
Guest amoebauk Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Still happening on japenese Jellyfish R7 (2.2).

YET. It is widely rumoured that there WILL be an official 2.2 release for the Blade/SF (at least in Scandinavia) in the very near future (maybe a fortnight?) Officially, the thing to hope for would be that Hullomail might work properly with that release, just as it is. If it doesn't, then there would be good cause to nag Hullomail about it (and btw, it'd be great if it worked with Jellyfish as well ...) Edited January 26, 2011 by oh!dougal
Guest redbaron51 Posted February 8, 2011 Report Posted February 8, 2011 Just to add that same issue on JJ9
