Hi guys,

Just wondering if I can delete Wavesecure from my SF. Im running the stable 2.1 ROM from Paul. Ive been trying to see if I can improve my battery life and getting rid of applications I dont use. At the moment I only get a day maximum, and often less, with moderate use. Really happy with the phone generally - and I understand for the price, I really cant complain too much.

So any ways to get rid? Uninstall doesnt seem to be an option.

And I guess whilst im here, Id be interested to find out how others are finding the battery life.

All the best,

Andy

You need to delete it from system/app (it's called "com.wsandroid.apk"). You can use things like 7zip to edit the ROM zip that you flashed (and then re-flash it), but if you've updated or installed lots of new apps you could try other methods (like RootExplorer -- note: root access will be required!) to delete it on the live system (then reboot your phone).

If possible id rather not re-flash the ROm. It took me a long time to sort it out first time around, and as easy as it would be, id rather not do it again just yet. I guess I could hold on until i take the plunge with a 2.2 rom.

The phone is rooted. What exactly is rootexplorer? How would I go about using that? Sorry- im aware it may be a lame question, but im quite inexperienced with all this still.

root explorer is a paid app available on the market. I think there is a free alternative called Astro?

Personally i'd say Rootexplorer is well worth the small amount it costs.

I'm sure while I was browsing the market today I saw a Wavesecure uninstaller. I stand to be corrected tho... *My bad - it's an add-on that locks the phone if Wavesecure is deleted, didn't read the description fully*

Hi Mate

I recharge mine every day. Once the kids start playing games on it, it dies quickly. Awful, awful battery life but at least it recharges quickly - saying that thought it got stuck on 73% and I had to shut it down twice before it fully charged.

For the first 5 charges my battery was terrible!

Since then I have switched off the data connection, wi fi and made sure its in airplane mode at night.

Also, turned down the brightness a few notches (not all the way though, i like my bright oled screen!)

I can now get 3/4 days with moderate use here and there.

Its much easier to turn things on when you need them. (wi fi and data especially)

Get the SYSTEMAPP REMOVER from the Market

Why not just use Android Commander?

Its a Windows program that lets you add/remove/edit apps and anything on the device simply and quickly

That involves adb

Using the app is quite a straight forward process

I tried Astro, it does not allow root access [or at least I did not get it] although it looks like a good file browser.

Downloaded the free "App Delete" and was able to use it to get rid of Wavesecure*. Yay!

*such an irritating POS
