/system/ files

Hello all, sorry if this is a stupid question, i want to add a apk file, and it says in the comments to add to /system/apps. just want to know how do i get into /system/apps to add it, or even a link to some info about it, i usually drop the apk file on the sd card and open with astro file manager, but can't seem to find /system/apps when using that. Any help greatly appreciated. :P

Are you rooted? Apparently to get to /system you "go to the Astro tab and hit up". Documentation here.
