Guest goldndelicious Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Hi all, I'm using FLB froyo 2.2 r3 and i seem to be having some instances where 3G isn't active (despite having the 3g symbol in the notification tray) For example, if i go the browser and go to google.co.uk i jsut the the "website cannot be found" type standard message. By going to the network settings, and then simply turning off 3g and starting it again, all is well. This doesn't seem to happen every time, and i'm yet to investigate it fully to try and find a root cause, but has anyone else had issues?
Guest phil_h Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Yes I am having the same problem. I am using the same. Tom, it seems that my whole internet and mms has completely gone. I have lost the 3g symbol in the task tray next to the signal and I can't connect to the internet even if I drop the signal down to 2g. Tried using a 3g toggle to wake it up somehow but this just happened overnight. All the settings are ok aswell I am lost what to do next
Guest freyungzoo Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 I have the same problem if I disable the 3G Data connection for a longer time, dont know if its a ZTE or a network provider problem. I did some googleing (everyone should do) and found out that alot of people (in germany) have the problem, not only ZTE users. They suggest the following: Only allow 2G-Networks for a few seconds, then just go back to 3G or Airplane mode for a few seconds or simply restart (thats what i did before i did som research) Havent really tested the 2G and Airplane thing.
Guest kag8 Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 i have the same problem using the same rom, also cant receive mms although i can send fine, double checked my settings and they should work, dont know what the problem could be
Guest phil_h Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 I came across a fix as I was sat in the car to work this morning as you were aware the 3G signal dissapeared and I couldnt download off a the net or recieve incomming MMS. if you download and install mini info widget (screenshot here) http://www.androlib.com/android.screenshot...qtx-znpj.u.aspx if you scroll across there is a APN settings which isnt highlighted. click on it to highlight and then go stright to the home screen as it seems it only lasts a little while. open a web page and it should connect. if not leave it a while and the settings will be activating so the 3G signal will keep going on and off. eventually it will settle down. it seemed that opening a webpage made mine less erratic. hope that helps anyone as it helped me. I am back online
Guest cagster Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Hi all, I'm using FLB froyo 2.2 r3 and i seem to be having some instances where 3G isn't active (despite having the 3g symbol in the notification tray) For example, if i go the browser and go to google.co.uk i jsut the the "website cannot be found" type standard message. This doesn't seem to happen every time, and i'm yet to investigate it fully to try and find a root cause, but has anyone else had issues? Hi - yes - I have been getting this for ages - I am on the stock orange build and have never flashed another rom. Its like it thinks it has a connection when it doesnt - you see it attempting to send data ^ but no back data. Its highly annoying. Also I havent yet worked out a pattern - sometimes if you leave the phone for 30 mins its fine - when you leave the phone for half a day there is always a problem. What I have noticed is that when I walk from my house to the station down the road (5 mins) walk - im sure it moves base stations (as I know where they are located) I suspect that the phone is not reconnecting to the next station 3G correctly. As I have to reset the data connection. When compared to my pulse it defentialy does not switch between E, 3G and 3G+ types very much - i think that maybe where the problem lies. Its same similar to the wifi issue - except WIFI is worse - it never reconnects - sometimes 3G does. Is anyone else having this problem (got to be believe there are quite a few with it) ? Any suggestions apart from disabiling and re-enabling the data connection. Also what network are you on ? Im on Giffgaff (O2 network) but I doubt its a network problem. PPS Re the WIFI issue - i bought a second blade as a XMAS pressie - the new blade (OLED, grey - orange ver 5 rom) - connecting with same home router doesnt have the sleep wifi problem PERIOD. I am guessing these problems (3G and WIFI) are not operating (android) related problems ? Any help or advice ESP from the seniors/rom makers appreciated.
Guest Arr Too Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 I am guessing these problems (3G and WIFI) are not operating (android) related problems ? I've reported in another thread that the issue can arise after installing certain apps -- it seems to me that it is connected to notifications (which may just overload a part of the net system).

Oh , thanks ,what apps were giving you problems ? I have most notifications and syncs off but there may be apps competing to access data. Also if you could pls send me a link to your other post/thread i would be gratefull Edited December 9, 2010 by cagster
Guest Arr Too Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Oh , thanks ,what apps were giving you problems ? First time was after a long time having no problems on a quite plain MoDaCo R4 ROM: I'd been playing Wordfeud for ages when I discovered the notifications option in its settings menu, and as soon as I enabled it I started to get the wifi bug. And so I disabled that option but the bug persisted. So I re-installed the ROM from scratch and then took care not to enable Wordfeud's notifications. All was fine for a long time. Then I installed a Twitter app (Tweetcaster) and was horrified to find the wifi bug had come back... in Tweetcaster's settings I discovered it had notifications on by default! Also if you could pls send me a link to your other post/thread i would be gratefull Here.

Thanks for your help. For me the 3G problem is more annoying - i can live with the WIFI bug as I dont use it that often. Perhaps I am in a minority with a doggy phone hardware - if anyone else can help Id sure like to try and solve this. :-)

I have just started to experience this exact same problem using deorangeated r6 (eclair 2.1 based). It probably started about 5 days ago and I am on the o2 network. If happens on GPRS/Edge/3G or 3G+ connections and it can work fine for several minutes and then it usually completely stops working - usually if it goes from a 3G to Edge/GPRS signal. Switching Data Network On/Off, Resaving the APN, reboot the phone usually solve the problem but after 5 seconds it can break again. Is it worth seeing what other networks people are using in case it is an o2 network problem? Have done a search and if you are on the 3 network this may help but it does not explain why the problem has only just started and I am on the o2 network? (does not work on 2.1+ anyway going off the not so great comments) http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applica...-users_crm.html Anyone have any insights? Perhaps we should post applications that have been installed I wonder if a recent update to an app we have installed has caused this problem? Does anyone know how to edit the MTU - perhaps o2 has changed something on their network? TIA Edited December 10, 2010 by mobile579

I am finding that the net can work for 1 hour and then it just gets stuck - you see if try and upload but no download arrow displayed. Its really a pain :-( I am with GiffGaff
Guest mbadestiny Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 Hi there, Even I have been facing issues with 3g connectivity on this phone. What I have observed is problem occurs when there's a transition between 3G & 3G+ :) Everything was working fine till yesterday (just been 4 days that i had this phone). Have not rooted or tried custom rom yet..want to make sure it's not a hardware bug..even tried to restore factory settings assuming might have corrupted driver file while installing apps..still no luck. Not sure if this is because I have unlocked phone and am using virgin mobile sim..orange payg sim seems to be working fine (as it never shows 3G+)..though still cannot say for sure.. Any pointers / help will be greatly appreciated.. Cheers,
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 humm i have fibblesan rom froyo installed in phone rooted of course. i have ES suite installed OS monitor some players titanium backup mobiletag a tv player battery widget facebook and twiter widget cache cleaner quadrant neocore some games i'm with orange france and don't have the bug even if i'm in tramway
Guest mobile579 Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 I am with GiffGaff GiffGaff uses the o2 network I think so since I am on o2 perhaps it is network specific. Mine has been much better this week however perhaps only occurred once or twice where the week before it was virtually unusable - perhaps it was a localised network problem.
Guest Cronnix Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 (edited) I've reported similar problem here: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad.../3g-usb-issues/ For me the case seems to be that I can't enable 3G after some time, only solution is to reboot the phone. Using 2.2 alpha 4, but on a swedish network and not o2, so I doubt it is network specific. Edited December 18, 2010 by Cronnix
Guest mbadestiny Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 This is really strange that only few of users are having this issue..At the moment I have made change to use only 2G (better than falling connection). I read in forums that similar issue was reported on nexus mobile too..Is this andriod problem then ? Can this issue be fixed in future.. Seniors plz guide on this.. Many Thanks,
Guest cagster Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 Any other observations welcome.
Guest super san francisco Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 i'd like to bump this up, as i have the same problem all over. i was on seb's 2.1 rom and it worked perfectly with apndroid. could switch it on and off all day and it would reconnect. nothing was wrong, after updating to 2.2 now, the issue has reappeared. i use widgetsoid and created a widget that does what usually apndroid does. there you can choose different methods of changes to the apn that will try to shut it down. it has renaming, which doesn't work at all on my blade, connection just pops up again. then the apndroid method which works and causes the issue then. the third puts a - in the name of the apn, which doesn't work out aswell. which part of the OS is responsible for this?
Guest Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 My 02 APNS were finally working last night for 3g and for mms and now today neither are for no reason! Getting really sick of this phone and thinking of taking it back!
Guest bobby-gg Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 I've had my SF for some time now and mine has always had this issue, but after alot of trial and error I've found on mine that it is the GPS connection that causes the problem If I leave the GPS switched off I never lose my 3g signal, if I switch the GPS on, the 3g only works for a brief time, then as someone on here has mentioned, only seams to upload, not download! A quick reboot solves the problem, but it means that anything that uses GPS is rather useless, so thats googles maps, runkeeper, my tracks etc all out - not much of having a smart phone really. I've since picked up another SF which I'm going to try andthen send this on back under repair to see what happens
Guest goldndelicious Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 just to say i haven't had this issue again since starting the thread, not made any changes other then installing / removing some apps, so seems to have "fixed itself"
