Is there a way to do this? I have a wallpaper at 640 x 480 and if I want to use it the top gets cropped out so the sides can scroll over each screen. Is there a way to stop it so the whole picture can fit on my home screen?

LauncherPro has a setting to disable wallpaper scrolling.

I've disabled it in launcher pro now but when I try set the wallpaper it still always wants me to crop it to a square... :P

Such a simple option should be built into android by default. Most old phones are capable of scaling an image up or down to fit the screen size.

you can actually press on the edge of that crop selection and extend it to include more of the picture.

I can only crop in a rectangle shape if I choose crop. If I go to set as wallpaper and the crop box comes up automatically it always limits me to a square shape to crop with.

Just a heads up that there's an app called "multipicture live wallpaper" that solves this problem. You can choose a picture to set on any / all screens and it fits it nicely without any cropping. Why android doesn't have this feature built in is beyond me.
