Guest jchamier Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 I decided to take the plunge into the world of Android, and stopped by the Orange shop on my way home from work to pick up a San Fran of my own (having played with friends). And I was offered White or Black (I thought they were grey) and so of course I went for white :P Two pictures attached, front with flash, back without flash. I had to find the only white micro-USB cable I had, which came with a 3rd gen Kindle, to charge it with! The white is fairly reflective, as its not textured at all, as you can just see my shadow in the second pic.
Guest Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Well done! My Grey one arrived from Orange today and I'm just testing a few ROMs for the first time. Amazing phone. Can you tell us whether the screen is OLED and how much RAM it has? i was going for the white one until play.com pushed it to the 16th.
Guest Freekers Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Do not want. Looks like an iPhone ripoff. I don't like the front, the part were it says 'San Francisco'. They should've made that white too...
Guest Paul Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 I plan to try and get one from the O store tomorrow... which means I might have a black one for sale for non UK peeps. :P P
Guest aidanj Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 personally, i much prefer the grey one, might be just me though :P
Guest Rem1x Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Welcome to the world of Android, you found a good jumping off point with the SF :P (not a fan of the paint job, but hey ho.)
Guest DanWilson Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Do not want. +1 White phones are always nice. But I dislike this for some reason. Desire Z / HD in white. Ohhhhhhhh. :P
Guest Digitalize Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 VERY jealous, will have to pop into Orange store tomorrow, see whats going down. £100 i assume?
Guest meinnit Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 personally, i much prefer the grey one, might be just me though :P Me too
Guest Samehere Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 VERY jealous, will have to pop into Orange store tomorrow, see whats going down. £100 i assume? Isn't it £109 with top-up or whatever it was? :P
Guest dizzytiz Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 I like it, although I brought an E72 case in white which basically makes my grey one look white like that, so might be pointless me getting one. Wonder why orange have not put it online first?
Guest Digitalize Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Isn't it £109 with top-up or whatever it was? :P I'm tempted to ring Orange up, got a PayGo Orange phone i use for cinema, see if they're still doing it for £79.99
Guest WillDroid Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Does this look to be white plastic or some other colour painted white? Will
Guest Frankish Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Nice. What screen type and how much ram please? :P
Guest jchamier Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Isn't it £109 with top-up or whatever it was? :P I paid £119, as the Orange retail shop said I had to top up £20, new rule, and he showed me the paperwork.
Guest jchamier Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 To answer questions: * White plastic most definitely not painted. * Screen type - to my untrained eye looks the same as my mates grey/black one * RAM - not sure how to check yet... still learning
Guest Digitalize Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Damn, can you choose which number the top up goes on or whatever? May as well top up the emergency/cinema phone. White plastic rules out the images of a chipped white san fran, but that looked matte too. RAM is the decider, can't imagine it would of been dropped to 256mb though.
Guest StevenHarperUK Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Damn, can you choose which number the top up goes on or whatever? May as well top up the emergency/cinema phone. Indeed you can - you can choose to Topup ANY Sim with the topup fee - if you ask nicely enough

Guest Polythene Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Glad i got the grey one rather than waiting for white!
Guest igors_s Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Just phoned Orange. Looks like they're out of stock on both Gray and White versions. Customer support told me they should have get some in on friday. He also said that gray and white are 100% identical spec wise, only different in color. hmm....
Guest wakaru Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 (edited) It surprises me that the white version is available from the Orange stores already, specially considering that play.com has pushed its release date back until the 16th December, and prepaywizard.co.uk until January 2011. Still not available from the Orange website either :-? Anyway, nice to see they are being released. I'd love to know whether their specs are any different from the grey ones, since I have one in pre-order from Play.com. Hopefully not! (fingers crossed) Edited December 2, 2010 by wakaru
Guest Arr Too Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 and prepaywizard.co.uk until January 2001. My goodness! That'll probably be the size and weight of a brick... and it won't even have email!
Guest Samehere Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 I paid £119, as the Orange retail shop said I had to top up £20, new rule, and he showed me the paperwork. Oh, I see. I guess they saw an opportunity to make easy money, having people buy £20 instead of £10 top up. I had to pay £139.99 on Ebay though, I bought it when the operators announced the Swedish version were going to have 256MB RAM. That was false though, the Swedish version will also have 512MB RAM, lol.
