Guest disgracedsaint Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 Ok so I will start from the beginning. I bought my streak online from dells website (US). It came with 1.6. I tried doing the new update from dells site on my phone but it didn't work because I had the wrong baseband version. So I looked around and followed this: http://www.streaksmart.com/2010/11/h...ll-streak.html which resulted in my phone hanging at the dell screen ( I should have read the comments ) So at this point I tried to revert back to 1.6 and have tired lots of different posts that I have found here and on other forums. http://android.modaco.com/content/de...nline-kitchen/ http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...27&postcount=6 I've cleared out my sd card. (don't know if that matters) I have used flashboot and have gotten to the part where it lets me select update from sd, but it just gives me a black screen. I did one where it actually started an update but gave me an error that I cant seem to find the exact wording but it was something about missing files I believe. I'm really lost .... and I need my phone back any help is much apreciated.
Guest Cue_32 Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 (edited) This link you added " http://www.streaksmart.com/2010/11/h...ll-streak.html" is not loading... in anycase... not sure how far you got with the instructions so I can't tell whether your Streak is trying to load a 2.1 or a 1.6 image. But based on this "I have used flashboot and have gotten to the part where it lets me select update from sd, but it just gives me a black screen" it sounds like you flashed a custom recovery that is not working for your Streak. XDA has the link for alternate recovery.... or... since it doesn't sound like you're anywhere close to froyo yet, you can look for ADSMAN'S recovery and see if that works for you. But 1st thing's first... you need to know whether your Streak actually loaded the 2.1 or if it is still on 1.6. From there you can find out which recovery\ROM you need to start with. I've never tried this before but from what I remember, if you power on your Streak and plug in to your computer..... 1.6 = PC or Dell PC Suite Detects it as Dell Streak 2.1 = PC or Dell PC Suite Detects it as Dell Mini 5 2.2 = PC or Dell PC Suite Detects it as WinMo 7 =) Edited December 1, 2010 by Cue_32
Guest topshelf95 Posted December 1, 2010 Report Posted December 1, 2010 They have most of the QDLTool Guide up now at StreakDroid.com The Guide: http://streakdroid.com/?page_id=92 The QDLTool: http://streakdroid.com/repairtool.zip The image included in the repair tool includes the pre-release official 2.2 with baseband, so then all you need to do is flash Clockworkmod, Clear Data/Cache, and Install DJ_Steve 1.4.6 DJ_Steve's Froyo now works flawlessly on my BestBuy White Streak. I saw DJ_Steve's tweet that 1.5.0 is coming out tomorrow! I think its possibe you may be able to use this to do a one-shot unbrick / upgrade to 2.2 where you will then be able to flash directly to Steve's 1.4.6. I was soft bricked, stuck on Dell Logo and this straightened me out in no time. Completely skipped all the other steps and went from stock to froyo. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

I'm at work at the moment so as soon as I get a moment to try it out I will let you guys know. I appreciate you guys trying to help me so much u don't even know lol. I was so frantic about not having my phone and trying to fix it, it took me 2 days to realize that my Wow authenticator was on there and thats boned for the moment too.... I don't care as much about that though :P
Guest disgracedsaint Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Wee Thomas you rock! You saved the day and my phone! I really can't thank you enough. I still have a couple questions though. Is this a stock 2.1 or is it something like DJ Steves? Will I be able to do the upgrade to 2.2 through dells page? Or do I need to do something different? Also would it be better to use something like DJ Steve I hear his version is optimized better than the dell one? Either way I'm very thankfull for your write up and all the help if your comfortable with it pm me your address and I'll send you a proper thank you =)

To upgrade to 2.2, you would either go through Dell's upgrade process or follow the instructions here on the forum to update to froyo: http://android.modaco.com/content/dell-str...-6-annoncement/ I think once you've gone through doing the 2.1 upgrade, you have enough experience under your belt to handle going to 2.2. If you run into any problems, just let me know.

And also if I do it this way I assume I have to wait till its released for all the basebands. The version you gave me was an unlocked version? did we root the phone during that process. I only ask because the Wow Authenticator tells me " running a non-retail (i.e. "rooted") version of Android operating system may compromise the security of the battle.net mobile authenticator. ( which I don't care really )
Guest disgracedsaint Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 DJ Steve 1.4.6 installed and working very well, no know issues. Thanks again for all the help guys! :P ;)

I can't believe it! My Streak was delivered at US rollout with the antiquated 1.6, then my patience with Dell providing an update, ran out. Two weeks ago, I decided to attempt the update myself. I bricked it. What a mistake! Then I found your site. Thanks so much for the solution to the bricking, and for providing a way to 2.2. I'll wait awhile before I try for 2.3, then it will be your site I'll follow for the how to's! Thanks, again!
